Smittybilt has reengineered its entire line of JK front bumpers. They now fit the 2012 models with the vacuum pump inside the front frame. This means no modifications or relocation of the pump. Smittybilt front bumpers are engineered to provide the maximum protection without sacrificing the ability to go anywhere off road. Each front bumper features a 3/16” solid plate center section that wraps and protects the frame horns and lower cross member, which provides the ultimate protection when off roading. Each front bumper has an integrated winch mount and is capable of holding a winch with up to a 15,000 LB rated line pull. Both the front and rear bumpers feature a two point shackle mount system that is welded on the outside and inside of the bumper. The 2.0” over rider and wings are manufactured from 2” wall tubing and are custom formed to compliment the front of your new Jeep

Nice Bumper
I chose this bumper because my 3.5” Rubicon Express lift and 37” tires were rubbing on my old Warn full width bumper and it was very reasonably priced. My install took way longer than the quoted 1 hour. I’ll admit that I always take a long time installing anything. Then first thing to do was remove the Warn bumper and winch which took a while. The next thing I noticed was the stock canister that is mounted down there had to be fixed. This bumper nicely clears the canister but installation of the Warn bumper required that I cut off one of the stock mounting tabs then reposition it with a Warn supplied mount. This wasn’t going to work so I put it back in the stock location and made a bracket to bridge where I cut the stock tab off, from the canister to the side of the winch mounting plate. See included picture. After cutting of the areas at each end of the frame cross member that hang down and interfere with the new installation ( per the instructions) I test fit the bumper and was disappointed that it wasn’t fitting in contact with the bumper mounts. The bottom of the front bumper mounts was spaced away from the frame with the bottom of the bumper against the frame cross member. I didn’t want to just tighten everything because it would have but everything under a ton of stress. After struggling to figure out a solution I decided to slot the frame holes so that the upper mounts seat properly and allow the bottom of the bumper to fit properly against the frame rail. This required the holes to be slotted down, probably at least a quarter inch. After doing that the bumper fit great. Actually slotting those holes was a major pain! I started with a air powered grinder and carbide burr. Perhaps it was my grinder but the bit kept grabbing and spinning around the hole, not cutting. I finally mounted the burr in a drill motor which was slow but easier to control. I probably spent at least an hour slotting those holes. The winch holes lined up perfectly with my Warn Zeon winch but the two rear holes were EXTREMELY difficult to get cinched down and tightened. I used a crows foot and ratchet tightening 1 click at a time. I tried a couple of universals I had but there is very limited access to the rear screws. IT WOULD BE REALLY NICE IF SMITTYBILT PROVIDED SOME ACCES HOLES TO MAKE THIS EASIER! In fact I finished the install today and I barely tightened those rear bolts so I need to go find a low profile 5/8 socket to get in there and finish tighten them. The bumper looks good. Hopefully it has cured my rubbing issues.

Fit a 2015 Jeep Wrangler JK just fine
Overall, I am happy with this bumper. Stubby, simple, and I can add a winch. FYI, it weighs about 85lbs. Don’t believe the 33lbs in the description. It shipped wrapped pretty well, but the outer box itself is a bit larger than the bumper (probably for a full width bumper) so there is likely to be some dings on the ends. Nothing a bit of touch up paint can’t fix. When it comes to items like this... just plan on a little work to make it yours. Savings was right though 😀

Great Bumper
I am very pleased with the bumper. The install on my '14 Rubicon was quick and easy. There where a places that were a bit touch to reach because of the sway bar e-disconnect, but it went on easily enough. The clearance was a bit tight on the bottom of the bumper, and the instructions did mention that trimming may be required; the bumper did take a bit of persuasion to fit. All of that said, the hardest part of the install was the removal of the stock bumper.

great bumper!
Solid setup! Counter sunk bolts and very solid build! Smittybuilt has been my go to for a while now. Only part I didnt like was I have to shave some of my lower cross bar so the bumper would fit correctly. Overall great value and solid setup!

Easy install
Easy install except for some of the bolts being hard to get the nuts on and then tighten due to tight space. We got it figured ou and I absolutely love the way it looks!
