Wonderful, easy-to-use paint that dries smooth! Way better than rustoleum chalk paint!

Hoping this will help others who are trying to decide between driftwood gray and queenstown gray. I ordered both of those, plus the seagull gray as a comparison. The seagull gray almost looks white to my eye and I upcycled antique dressers using both driftwood and queenstown. If you're looking for a dark gray, the queenstown is the way to go. Beautiful rich color! The before/after photo shows you the true color. The color with the pulls shows you how it looks under direct light. Incredibly easy to work with paint that dries evenly. Before discovering this I was using rustoleum chalk paint, but this product is worth every penny of the extra cost!!!

Pretty good paint

This paint is pretty great. I bought the Queenstown Gray to paint an old dresser that I have. The gray color is actually pretty light, which is why I removed one star from my review. If you look online at the General Finishes Design Center and search for this color, there are a lot of very dark gray pieces featured. Whomever painted these obviously either mixed some black in with the gray paint or used a dark finish over the gray. I ended up buying a pint of Lamp Black to mix with the gray, and then got the results I wanted. I used three coats of the "General Finishes QTHS High Performance Water Based Topcoat" to protect it, and it looks quite beautiful. The paint was easy to work with. It does feel like its a bit expensive. I haven't done any shopping around to see how the price and quality compares to other brands - I had trouble finding milk paint in the stores where I live, so I just went with the easy option through Amazon.Even though milk paint supposedly sticks to items without the need for sanding or priming, I did do both of these as I was working with laminated particle board and I wanted to be sure all my efforts would last. I scuffed the surface with 160 sand paper to remove the sheen, then primed with "Rust-Oleum Corporation GIDDS-800201 Oil Base Primer/Sealer Cover Stain ". I only just finished this project, so time will tell if the paint will last - as of right now, it feels like it won't have any issues with chipping or scratching.

Perfect paint for antique refinishing.

I used this paint when refinishing a Hoosier Cabinet that had been my family for several generations. It had been painted several times and I couldn't get all the paint off. With a couple coats of paint I couldn't even see the places where I couldn't get all the paint off. It leaves a smooth surface and makes the cabinet look great!

Pretty decent paint!

Bought this paint to redo the cabinets in a camper remodel. Overall impressions:PROSGlides on just fine with any brush/roller.You are definitely going to need two coats.Overall look is super nice.CONSWe noticed after taking this out camping that it scratches fairly easily? Does not seem to be super durable/tough.Spendy for the coverage: We needed to purchase 2 cans to cover 6 cupboard faces and the refrigerator compartment in our camper.Overall, I am super happy with the end result! Docked one star for durability issues.*** amazon won’t let me leave a picture of the cabinets** will try to update when they allow it.

but it did come out looking fantastic. It really looks like we got new cabinets

Used this for repainting very old, white wooden kitchen cabinets. did quite a bit of research on what to use and what to do, and came up with this. Basically prepped the cabinets as General Finishes recommends, by washing and scrubbing with rough sponge, then went through with a sanding block to scuff it a bit and remove any obvious imperfections. When i started painting it felt too thick, so i added some water to it and mixed it together. All in all it took three coats to get the solid, uniform look I was going for, but it did come out looking fantastic. It really looks like we got new cabinets.Bought the high performance top coat but have not yet had a chance to apply that. After a month the paint without the topcoat looks no worse for wear. I will add the topcoat eventually, but had a time crunch for the initial job so left just the milk paint on there. Can definitely recommend this for either bare or lighter woods to refresh old cabinets that are in decent shape but just looking weathered. Was very happy with the purchase and finished product.

This product is so amazing. I just bought by first home

This product is so amazing. I just bought by first home, and I was very wary about painting my own cabinets, and I couldn't afford to get them done professionally. I had some of those 1980-1990 blonde oak cabinets throughout my entire house and light tan and brown granite counters. So much brown. Too much brown. It was totally dated and was throwing off the modern look I was going for. This paint was perfect, and so so so easy to use. The best part about it was how fast it dried. I could start at one end of the kitchen and by the time I got to the other end, it would be dry where I started and I could start my second coat right then and there! I also used this with a sprayer, which was super quick and easy. Paired with their High Finish Satin, and it looks perfect.

Bad coverage. Overpriced.

I guess I was expecting something closer to chalk paint, but for the price of this I was hoping for WAY better coverage. I don’t mind paying a little more to prevent extra work with a paintbrush, but this has the consistency of a cheap, watery paint. I’m refinishing a piano so I do plan on sealing it, but you still have to prep as well, so I’m struggling to see how I would spend $35+ on this one quart vs. going to a local hardware store and paying half the price for an arguably better, thicker product. I like the color though, considering ordering paint online can be a toss-up of what shade you’re actually going to end up with. Don’t hate it, probably wouldn’t recommend for the price though. (Picture shows 1 coat of paint on an originally light blue, paint-prepped wood surface.)
