Racor Replacement Collection Bowl for 320R-RAC-01 - RK 30475

There is an older version of this product still being sold by some places. The old version is fine for diesel but fails in gasoline/alcohol applications. Failure can be a disaster on a boat. This is what I expected - the newer - gasoline or diesel compatible - marked with the 'PUR' logo - filter. Coupled with the 2 micron water separating Racor filter I'm using, safety, plus engine maintenance, reliability and longevity are much improved.

The original lasted 15 years but just shrunk and fell out. Couldn't believe it but it did just that. Found out it's quite common for these to shrink and fall out with lots of time. They make a metal one that won't shrink but I couldn't find one available right away so went with plastic again with Prime 2 day shipping.. If I don't get the metal one I'll just have to replace this one in 14 years lol. I guess the clear plastic is good for seeing water or debris but I can't get a good look at mine where it is so metal would be fine for me. Every now and then I just drain out an ounce or two into a clean olive jar (perfect shape & size) and check for water & debris.

Present formulations of gasoline in the Midwest (Ethanol) cause this plastic bowl to shrink/distort so that after several years, we find that the threads do not engage securely. We have had one come off during operations. Check/replace these as needed.

Over time ethanol softens the plastic on the racor water sep filters. I replace them annually as preventative maintenance. These work well

Easy to replace my existing racor filter. I had an old one with an aluminum bowl. Seems to work well.

Allows visual inspection of any water or sludge and a drain to get it away from the filter.
