We actually use this as a gate lock in our 6’ fence gate - much better and easier fit than a traditional lock to place through the latch. Great value, easy to place or remove!

They work exactly as described. The only problem I have is that any gate will have a need for four of these locking devices (one on each end of the gate operating bar) which means that you have four keys. If they would offer the option like some locks, do you where one key would open multiple devices It would be easier to manage.

These pin locks are necessary for gates. Although they do not provide a great deal of security, without them there is no security because the whole arm mechanism for the gate can be removed in less 30 seconds by pulling out the cotter pins that are used. I have now used these locks on two different company's products and three gates. There are quite a lot of other similar locks that will also do the job, but in reading the reviews, I decided on these, because I have used them before and did not have many problems.What problems did I have? The most important one to note is that it comes with simple generic keys. Maybe there is more than one, but all the ones I bought have the same key. If someone buys one of these, they can open all such locks. The physical problem I had was that they can rust out, and will not open with the key, so that can solve the first problem. I had to cut one of mine off, but the others responded after putting some penetrating oil in them. On my other gate, I had used a newer lock and put in WD40 right away when installing it, and put more in every year. I had no problem opening that lock with the key. So, it is advisable to put oil in them from the start especially if you live in a wet environment.

The last thing any wants to think about is some one stealing the arm to your automatic gate. This little pin lock does the trick very nice, it replaces the pin that is on the gate arm allowing you to lock it in place. It's an added layer of security in an already great system and brings peace of mind. I would recommend anyone who wants to install a gate get this as well.Overall. Well crafted with same quality we've come to love from Mighty Mule. A must have for your automatic gate arm. Easy to install.

They appear to do the job. Hopefully they will offer protection from someone being able to easily unhook the chains at both ends which is a design flaw of the gate. When was installed I was never told that these pins could easily be removed. Installed these locks i to the openings where the chain pins hook to the gate, thus eliminating the gate pins from coming out of the slot. This is not hooked to the end of the chain, thus is not being object/ pin pulled directly by the motor the instructions the that came with it showed replacing the yhe end pin on the chain with the lock pin. That method ws not workable for me! I gave it 4 because of drlays in actually shipping it to me.
