Good Value for the Money

Honeywell RCWL105A Wireless Chime and Push ButtonThis unit is a replacement for one I purchased on eBay that crapped out with great rapidity. Since it was $6.00 on eBay I wasn't overly concerned but was annoyed. This unit is $14.19 and may also be too cheap but as of yet that remains to be seen.I like the doorbells that have a plug in chime. That just seems so much more practical than a set of battery chimes. Sending the signal does not dramatically impact a battery but chiming does have a more significant draw, battery wise. This is a pretty simple unit. It has 16 channels for signal transmission so if your neighbor acquires the same unit, you will be able to change channels. (A side note when one of my neighbors got the same brand garage door opener that I had, I went to my book and changed my remote back to factory default. I randomly raised and lowered his dooer for awhile until he saw me doubled over in laughter on my lawn. Lesson to be learned is always change from the factory default, whatever your product might be.)There are only three chime tones, ding, dong and Westminster. The cheap unit had 10 or 15 but since it stopped working that really isn't a feature to brag about. This setup easily and sounds good. I bought two identical units to have identical chimes in different areas in the house. It also gives me a spare transmitter and battery. So far so good, I will return in 6 months to rate reliability.

A very big assistance in my role of parent caregiver!

LOVE this doorbell!I'm caring for my 91 year old, very soft spoken, mother. In the past, I'd have her ring a small, novelty bell, when she needed me from her bed, or when she needed private bathroom time. A friend suggested a wireless doorbell. After viewing various battery run units, I opted to try this plug in, so I can take the "bell" portion with me, even if I had to step in the yard with our dogs, since I have an outdoor plug. I didn't want to ever stress about the battery strength in the bell, should Mom be ringing her end. Mom's hand dexterity is what's expected at 91 years of age, and is blind in one eye. I had a fabric type drivers license holder, where the picture would be displayed under clear plastic. This "holder" allowed me to slip the "ringer" into it, allowing a very visible, easy to handle "pocket" for her ringer. My fabric holder also happens to have a "clip on," where I can temporarily attach it to her walker, during the day. Although this Honeywell does come with allowances for mounting the ringer, I love the fact my clip on holder allows it to be very mobile. It sits on her nightstand, during the night, and it's right at her fingertips! I'm so happy my friend suggested a wireless doorbell; I'm literally worry free regarding her ability to let me know she needs me when she's in another room.

Doorbell, Call Button, You Name it.

We own three of these little kits. They are very inexpensive but very durable. You can have multiple 'remotes' connecting to the same frequency to trigger all of the base stations in the house. This is very useful if you want to have one of the 'remotes' outside triggering 3 inside units. The remote dictates what tone will be played by the base units, all of the tones are loud and clear. We have one remote outside the front door as a door bell and two remotes in my room, one as a CALL switch and the other as a CODE BLUE switch like in a hospital. Since they are so inexpensive you can go wild with buying these and have a switch in different rooms to serve different functions. I have been thinking of putting a help button in the bathroom. The remotes seem waterproof, or at least in my experience they are, but don't submerge them. Reason I say this is I have had this product for 3 years since 2009 and the door bell remote outside is still fine.My only qualm with this product is how big and clunky the base units are, they could have made them half the size that they are now, if your outlets in your house are designed right it wont be a problem (mine are designed correctly) but if you are unlucky and have unusual outlets you can easily be wasting two outlets with one plug in.

Seven year battery life!

I honestly don’t remember much about the installation or other features of this doorbell.I’m writing this review today to say that I purchased this item in October of 2013, and in November of 2020, I finally had to replace the battery. Seven years! That’s amazing! However, when I removed the cover of the transmitter, but rubber button fell out and landed on the ground between my porch steps and the house and it’s unretrievable.I just bought some new batteries for this, as stated above, but now I have no button. It still works, though, just a smaller button to push on the inside,Basically I’m saying be careful changing the battery. The rubber button will fall out unless you tilt to back from the top when removing. Maybe the manufacturer could’ve glued the button in to save that from happening. I’m hoping I’m not the first...Anyway, I’m still in awe over the battery lasting seven years!
