Beautiful to look at, wonderful to rock in, logical and easy construction, definitely worth more than higher priced items!
Purchased this in 2015 and although many reviews state negative construction of this piece, I must disagree; for "DIY assembly" furnishings, it is very well made when compared to products by manufacturers such as Sauder, MainStays, etc. The detail to the rockers in particular come to mind - anyone who has ever rocked in an $88 rocking chair on the front porch from mega marts will understand this - the rockers are perfectly cut and shaped to rock indefinitely! The chair will not "walk" when you rock, and the rockers are balanced perfectly so that the chair doesn't tip backwards even when the 5 year old grandson runs and launches himself against the back. I agree with other reviews stating that the leatherette cushion is less than ideal: it does not shape well around the cushioning. When constructing: 1) be sure to find and lightly mark with a light crayon or what have you where the actual board is on the bottom of the cushion piece to be sure to get the center of the board with the screw: otherwise, one may find the screw misaligned splitting the wood; 2) do not tighten completely until finished with assembly to be sure it sits well, then finish tightening; 3) hand tighten all but the four screws attaching the seat to the frame.Otherwise, the quality of this rocker surpasses items I have purchased in the past for much greater money than this piece. We will definitely invest the funds in a second one so we have a "his and hers" set.PS: ladies, you may need a roll pillow with this rocker as it is quite deep. With a roll pillow, I can sit here for hours :)

Assembly Instructions Need Work
The biggest issue with the assembly instructions is they are all illustrated. The problem with the illustrations are they are not detailed enough to prevent assembly errors. The parts list part count was also of on the long bolts. The parts themselves were well machined and fit well together. I was disappointed with the finish on some of the components. I used to build furniture, and some of the parts had mediocre finishes.

pleasantly surprised
Since this chair was as inexpensive as it was I wasn't expecting the quality. I have retired and now caring for my newborn grandson I wanted an inexpensive rocking chair to match my Stickley Mission style furniture. Delivery date was delayed, most likely due to the frigid, snowy weather. When the box finally did arrive it was so light I was actually able to move it myself. That was kind interesting as I thought the chair being wood should be heavier. The chair was packaged wonderfully and all parts listed were in the package. YAY!! I am not the one in my family to assemble anything of this nature, but, the chair was so nicely packaged and labeled I gave it a try. Much to my surprise (and my husband's!!) I put the chair together without issue. The instructions were clear, well written and informed the assembler exactly what to do and in what order. The only problem I had was screwing the chair seat onto the chair. I have to leave SOMETHING for my husband to do!! The chair matched my furniture perfectly. The bottom seat was not real cushy to sit on but for a what the chair cost it is a value. I would recommend this company and chair to anyone.

worst instructions ever...
After 'finally' putting this rocker together--it took way longer than it would have if it came with clear and precise instructions--the last part was ready to be completed; that being the seat cushion. Imagine my surprise, though, when discovering that the seat cushion didn't come equipped with any pre-drilled screw holes. In the words of Homer Simpson, "D'oh!" Unfortunately, if I wanted this chair to serve its actual purpose--a rocker for my soon-to-be newborn and his mother--and not merely used as a fifty lbs paperweight, I had to drill the holes myself. Fortunately, I had enough confidence in myself to do this, so it wasn't as big of a problem as it could have been. Let's face it: It could have gotten really ugly, and I'm sure a lot of people won't feel confident with having to drill them, too. Who knows, maybe I was just the lucky one who got the only cushion that had this minor oversight. All-in-all, though, it seems to be a very sturdy rocker that should get a lot of use over the next ten years, or so.

Great chair for do-it-yourselfers!
This chair looks great - and my husband, who wanted it, says it feels great too. But DO NOT buy this chair - from any of the dealers who offer it - UNLESS you are really handy with tools. Here's what my husband had to do to set it up: (1) he had to go to Home Depot to buy a dowel peg to replace the one that came broken (he didn't want to send the whole thing back for one peg) (2) he had to drill out the broken peg (3) he had to glue in a new one (4) he had to drill four holes, which were missing, to attach the seat - and I probably left out a step or two. We had read all the reviews so we knew the directions would be bad, and several people had mentioned drilling missing holes too, so we were prepared for some of this. Too bad the manufacturer can't get the number of holes right!! This one didn't have the right and left side reversed, which others have mentioned. After all this, I sure hope this chair lasts!

If only it lasted.
When I bought this, I saw the reviews saying it did not last. However, the look of it was exactly what my wife and I were looking for. When I assembled it, I deliberately used wood glue everywhere - well beyond the instructions for assembly. I added extra brass screws of my own to help hold it all together. For these reasons, it has lasted a full four years of modest use. I have had to re-tighten bolts over the life of this chair, and perform minor maintenance. This week, the back panel is falling out of the wooden frame, because, apparently, the faux-leather is what holds it in place. The pressure of anyone sitting in the chair and leaning back has slowly pushed the vinyl-pad out of the chair back. I have added some wood of my own to the chair to hold it together and make it still usable for a bit, while we shop for a replacement. Great looking chair, but, unfortunately, not well built nor well-engineered. If I could find this same chair built properly, I would buy it in a heartbeat - for double the price of this one.

My Dad always said - Ya get what ya pay for
Have you ever put together something from Ikea? Things don't always fit correctly and are sometimes of not great quality. This chair is NOT like that. Excellent quality chair where all the pieces are crafted well. You will need some building ability to put this together properly but just remember this, If things are not fitting perfectly with this chair - YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG. I had one piece that was not fitting quite right, I had it backwards and once I corrected that, it went together with ease. Its a beautiful chair, take the time to be sure you are putting it together correctly.
