Above average corn meal! My go to when making corn bread. Here it is:1.5 cups cornmeal2 cups buttermilk3 tablespoons flour1 teaspoon salt1 teaspoon baking soda1 eggBacon grease for panGet a cast iron hot in your oven at 450F. Mix all the ingredients. Once the pan is hot take it out and add bacon grease. It should start to smoke fairly quickly. Pour cornbread mix into pan and bake for 22 minutes!

Maybe I’m a cooking nerd, but I really believe stone ground cornmeal makes a difference. The taste is better, the texture is better. When I lived near a grist mill in the North East, I had the pleasure of buying directly from the mill. If you’re lucky enough to live near one, give yourself a real treat and go there. Learn about stone grinding and you’ll never buy anything else.I bought white corn meal because I’m from the South, and that’s just what we used. It’s a bit finer than yellow, but I buy as much yellow as I do white these days. I left the South in 1980, and to my great surprise, there are many many differences. Not only in corn meal, but in life! Explore your options and embrace the differences! Don’t get stuck in a rut. Just sayin’.

Little more expensive but worth it. I normally buy Quakers. I can only find yellow meal or cornmeal mix so I decided to try this one. I will buy it again.

I usually order the yellow corn meal, so it was a mistake for the white corn meal to be sent; however it is okay. I quess it is personal preference because this one is less flavorful to me. All the flavor is bleached out.

I couldn't find white meal anywhere else (stores or websites). This is the brand my parents and grandparents used. It's the best.
