very nice
has a nice cross section of songs, some from the 80's and 90's and then older songs, some folk type traditional songs, some broadway (most notably the ones from Fiddler on the Roof) and some animated children's movies (a bunch from Anastasia.) My biggest complaint is that many of these arrangements are so easy, you have to really play them well (and know the original song) to make them sound like what they are...and there are no words at all to any of the songs. you have to know the words already if you are going to sing them. My favorite arrangements are "Once Upon a December" (from Anastasia,) and the theme song from Tootsie. But i also like "House of the Rising Sun," and "You Light Up My Life," but i have to add lots of flourishes and extra arpeggios and chords to make them sound the way i want. But this is a fun book, with lots of options. It was great when i had not read music for 20 years, and i wanted lots of practice reading again, without going over and over the same pieces.

difficult for "big note"
The songs in this book are great and there are plenty of them. However, when I see the words "big note," it generally means that the songs are incredibly easy--usually without much that involves both hands playing at the same time. These songs are easy (and, yes, the notes are bigger). They are also arranged nicely so that you sound more advanced than you are when playing, but I would have called it Easy Piano. It is beyond the skill of the person for whom I was buying it and I'm kind of frustrated about that. I guess that's what I get for buying music online when I can't look at more than the first page.

Great selection
I originally checked this piano book out from our library. My granddaughter (who is in 8th grade and has been playing piano for about 5 years) played some of the songs and we just had to have our own copy. The selection of songs is good and she was able to play them with ease.

Strangely Satisfying
The arrangements are absolutely amazing. 'Very easy - excellent practice for reading 'hands together.' Although on the page, each piece looks quite simple; once you are playing them - they come alive. The song-selection is an education in itself. Pieces from Broadway standards, music theater, popular movies, even some pop and television themes - all in one place. This is an excellent book for improving sight-reading skills or to just sit down and enjoy an evening with. Many of the pieces are 'must-knows' for the well rounded piano student.

something for everyone, set for younger/developing piano students
I saw this book at a friend's house and bought it for my 12 year old. We were looking for something easy enough, yet appealing. The book has a variety of genres (classical, pop, movie soundtracks, folk songs, country). Examples are "Tradition" from "Fiddler on the roof", Star Wars theme, the Entertainer, Yankee Doodle. We enjoy this book.

Lots of Fun for Any Level of Piano Playing!
I recently took up piano again after 10 years of not playing, & remembered Robert Schulz doing some nice arrangements I enjoyed playing as a kid. So I ordered this book, & have had so much fun playing these songs. There is a great variety of music & its all easy enough to sight read, but still sounds good. What a great value, too. I highly reccommend this collection, it would be good for beginners as well as experienced players.

Arrangements are lacking
I fear that it making the arrangements easy, the essence of many was lost. There are some good pieces, but others fall flat. The title gives the impression that these could still be played as solos, however, except for the case of a piano recital, the majority of these arrangements won't do for playing for an audience, at church, etc.

Good book for someone that has taken a year and ...
Good book for someone that has taken a year and is older. The songs will not be known by young students. Adults would love this book that brings back memories.
