Zodiac C66 Large Axle with Sand and Gravel Guard Replacement,Black

I ordered this because mine broke and it was supposed to fit my 280. It came in when it was supposed to and looked like it would fit. It did look and little different but only in color of the mounting bracket. Everything matched exactly. At least I thought it did. When I went to mount the wheel onto the guard the axle screw would not fit. At first I thought it was trying to crossthread but after carefully aligning the screw into the axle I discovered it was a different size. I was lucky I also ordered the original wheel assy. Do not buy this because it is a cheap knock off and you will be wasting your time.

I'm happy that I ordered this instead of the axle only - it was difficult to remove the broken axle from the old sand and gravel guard, but this one went on in 5 minutes. Remove the float from the back of the pool sweep (it just slides or unscrews off) and also the nut on the pipe that connects the tail hose - this controls the water flow to the hose. Then you only need to remove one Phillips screw from the top cover of the pool sweep to expose the installation location. Take a picture of the installation so you see which direction to place the axle. Unscrew the 2 Phillips screws and carefully remove them, the 2 lock washers, and then the steel plate. Then reverse the process after installing the new axle and you're good to go - just don't forget to re-adjust the tail hose flow otherwise you will have a flailing hose that squirts everywhere.

Awesome, I received a genuine Polaris part including assembly instructions. I'm mechanically inclined anyway, but found it to be a very simple install and it works exactly as before. Just be sure to keep all of the screws, washers, and ball bearing stuff from your old axle. I have the 280 model and it's about 7 years old, being able to get these parts on Amazon has saved me hundreds of dollars.

Product broke within a month...just noticed it broken!!!!!....its over the 1 month return period.... I'm so disappointed!!!! Look at the picture...its rediculous....what kind of plastic are they using? Stick to OEM....learned my lesson....

It's been working just fine on my Polaris for a few weeks. I had some difficulty getting all the ball bearings in the hub after taking the old guard off the wheel, so if I had to do it again, I would probably just buy the complete assembly. But this piece itself is just fine.

Arrived couple of days later than originally promised, but work like a charm. Exact original part I needed at a right price. It took less than ten minutes to take the old broken one off and install the new one.

If you own a pool then you know that you have to know all the ins and outs of your automatic pool cleaner.These break occasionally and you replace it.This is about one-quarter the cost of what I would have to pay at a local pool supply store.Easy to install in five minutes. And, I don't usually have an easy time replacing things and are way over peoples estimates for completion.

The part came assembled incorrectly. The axle was inserted the wrong way around. It makes a difference, as the disc is not the same on both sides: it is recessed on one side, and protrudes on the other. Therefore, if not inserted the right way, it will not fit on the cleaner. I struggled for about 10 minutes trying to install it before realizing this. I had to pop the axle out and reinsert it the other way. Then it installed with no problem.The fact that I could pop it out, and that it was able to freely rotate (unlike the original which is fixed in place) makes me wonder how long it will last.
