I’m minoring in Italian so I know most of the stuff already, but this tiny book is a must when traveling to Italy even if you know some Italian. It contains all of the Italian slang and makes it easier to understand! I also really appreciate the section with phrases for women in case of an emergency or how to tell a man to get lost. Thank you for thinking of us :)

Admittedly I used Google Translate a ton on my trip to Italy, but this was invaluable for doing quick studies and flagging pages for easy reference. It was easy to memorize some phrases, so fun to use! Small enough it fit in my purse while doing touristy things.

This book is a great review for my upcoming trip to Italy (it’s been a while since AP Italian in high school)! I love the sections that it has (transportation, sightseeing, chatting, to name a few). It goes over basic sayings and even has pronunciation. There are also Italian >> English and English >> Italian dictionaries. And it is truly compact and will easily fit into a small bag, not so much a pocket, I believe (at least not comfortably - maybe a back denim pant pocket or a jacket pocket). Happy with this purchase.

Easy to read and comprehend!

This was a gift at Christmas. Perfect size to carry in a purse, carry around easily. They loved it.

Read the dictionary section when you want just that, otherwise this book is great light-read with nice puns, humorous one-liners here and there to keep you engaged while learning things about a foreign culture that you aren’t likely to know otherwise

Rick provides the essentials for basic words and conversation in Italian. What he does well is provide pretty clear and accurate pronunciation help that makes sense for native English speakers using sounds that English speakers make and can read. Some phrase books use weird ways to describe and help with pronunciation that is no where close to the actual way it should be pronounced. Rick's book provides easy to understand pronunciation help that will get a speaker fairly close to the actual pronunciation and most Italians will understand what's being said.
