Last a long long time
Love this fan. But can't find a new one. I have had 2 previous ones and have worn them out. (First one in 2008) Looking for another one...any suggestions?According to Amazon they are out of stock and don't know when or if they will have them again.

Fantastic fan!
I love this fan! Has a great white noise level if you like to sleep with a fan running... of course that depends on where the fan is in relation to you. If you have it beside your bed on the floor, you might not hear it much. Bring it up more ear-level, and its noise level is great in my opinion. And I gotta say, it's a LOT larger than I thought. It says 12" but that's the BLADES, that fan itself is 18" wide and almost 20" tall. It is not a small table-top fan, it means business. The speeds are nice, low is gentle and quiet with great air movement High is nearly that of the old box fans- huge air movement and enough white noise to sleep next to a racetrack. The timer is nice (Quick nap? Set the timer!). The option to turn on the spinning front grill is great, it really adds the exact feel of the old oscillating fans, I was quite impressed. It spins slow enough that it really does feel like that.I'm not a fan of the 'natural wind' mode, or whatever it's called. It just raises and lowers the fan speed randomly. Makes it seem like something's wrong more so than a pleasurable feature. Maybe I'm just not used to it, but regardless that feature is not useful to me.The remote works excellent! It has great instant feedback and controls everything you need. If only I had a remote to GET the remote....It does beep when you turn it on & off or adjust the speed, the oscillating grill, etc, which is always a beef with me, since when people are asleep I want to make an adjustment silently, but at least this fan doesn't beep loudly like some I've had. I can ignore the beep flaw for all of its positives. The power cord tucks in the back into a little cubby with a removable cover. Super easy to take this with you to a hotel or whatever w/o having to wind the cord around itself only to have it fall off in the snowy parking lot and drag on the ground. You know what I'm talking about. All in all this is perhaps the best fan I have ever bought for my needs. It has all the power and white noise of a pedestal fan or box fan, but much more portable and a couple cool perks. If this fan were to break or go missing I would buy the exact same one again w/o a second thought! When my kids' fan, which is on its last leg, dies, they will get one of these.

Best fan I have!
I've only had this for several days but I received it just in time before a few hot days.I live in Seattle where most homes do not have air-conditioning. My bedroom doesn't get direct sunlight but the windows also seem to do a poor job of letting some breeze in. Enter this fan. This fan has been perfect! I was going to use it to supplement my tower fan but have come to realize that I can even do without the latter. I have been placing it in the corner of the room. Unlike my other fans, it doesn't just blow around the same-temperature air. The air it blows out is cool. It's almost like being in front of an a/c unit. It also blows a pretty strong stream of breeze. The third speed setting can be felt a good distance away. The grates spin (which is what it means by oscillation) and while I thought this couldn't possibly make much of a difference, it actually does a good job of distributing the air. Even from about 7 feet away, I feel the occasional breeze. The (inevitable) noise is a very steady white noise sound. I can't deal with rattling so fortunately it makes none of that noise! It's a very steady sound that you'll be able to tune out in no time.I had it delivered to my work and was surprised that it was bigger than 12-inches. I think the 12-inches refers to the round part in the middle of the fan. The box it came it was more like 1.5 feet x 1.5 feet. I took it out of the box and used the handle to carry it home. It's very lightweight. The description says it's 5.5 lbs but because it is not a compact size, it feels even lighter than that. This also made me appreciate the feature where the cord has a storage in the back. The storage resembles a place to put batteries in. You can fold the cord and hide it so as to not have it flopping all about the place when you're carrying it around or moving it from room to room.My only problem with this fan appears is that the plug is odd -- they're spaced too wide apart. It took a little bit of pushing it together with my fingers before I could plug it in. I've been moving this around with me (whichever room I'm in!) and have the same problem every time. It's ultimately a non-issue but just a bit of an annoyance. I wouldn't discourage people from buying it for that reason but if something like this is overlooked, I'd encourage people to buy it from a seller who does returns/exchanges in case there are issues with your unit.
