Great Set, Perfect for My Project

I'm rebuilding a vintage 1990's Cannondale mountain bike I've had since new. I replaced the Dia-Compe cantilever brakes with Shimano BR-T4000 V-Brakes. However, the original brake cable was cut a hair too short, and the end was fraying. The situation got worse as I tried to adjust everything the way I wanted.Fortunately, anticipating this exact scenario, I had already bought the SHIMANO Universal Standard Brake Cable Set as well. Installing a new cable for the rear brake was simple and easy. The kit comes with two generous lengths of stainless steel cable, a nice length of cable housing, four ferrules (didn't know that's what the housing ends were called) and two cable tips.It all worked perfectly, and I am thrilled to say the potential disaster was averted. Would absolutely, positively, buy again. In fact, I might get another set just to have around. With five bikes in the house, you never know when you might need it.

They Work And Easy To Install

These are the easiest things to install! It took me about less than 30 minutes for installing both. Just make sure you have a good wire cutter that is strong enough for the brake housing cable and a pick tool to reopen the ends. I’ve tested others and it did not feel the same. The housing was pretty much perfect for the front and rear of my ebike. The cables don’t fray when cutting them with a shimano wire cutter. My mistake was not reading the two brake wire lengths. One is shorter for the front and the other is longer for the rear. Luckily I bought three sets to keep as spare. I know I won’t need to change the housing or wires for awhile.

Perfect Replacement Brake Cable Kit

This is a perfect OEM replacement brake cable kit that has everything you need to replace the brake cables on your bicycle for a nice, refreshing change to overused and old brake cables. You won’t realize how good new cables perform over old cables until you install these and try them out. If you’re losing power in your brake levers, changing the cables is one of the best things you can do. Cables, over time, stretch and lose their stiffness and power, creating mushy-feeling brake levers. These Shimano cables are the OEM replacements for any Shimano brake kits (and will work with others).I used to work at a bike shop growing up and wouldn’t trust my brake cables with anyone other than Shimano, especially if your brake kit is a Shimano brake kit. Even with different brake kits, these cables work top-notch as they’re built with quality since Shimano has been producing bike parts for decades. The cables are setup perfectly. There is a cable housing piece that is way more than you’ll need to replace all of the brake cables housing on your bike. There are also cable housing ends to ensure the ends of the housing is stiff at the ends for better braking power. The kit includes two brake cables (one short and one long) for replacing both the front and rear brake cables. The kit also includes the cable ends you crimp on in order to keep the ends of your brake cables from fraying.Perfect kit for the cost.

Probably better out there, but good for pricepoint

I've bought these before, and perfectly reasonable functionality. No surprises. I mean, a little noise when u pull them, but std for the pricepoint. Like an old 80s vintage Chevy Caprice Classic. Someday I'd like to upsell myself just to see what it's like to have nice things lol

inexpensive, clean, complete- pefect

long, sleek... has ALL the parts you need - it comes with 2 - as it says, it's a set.I had to salvage a couple extra end pieces/entry/exit points because the bike I put these on ran the brake line to connection points on the frame, then - IDK why, maybe aesthetics (certainly not function) - at those connection points opened up and ran the exposed line to another connection point near the rear brakes. These are CLEAN.... the ends have BOTH types of line connectors to attach to the hand brakes so you can just see what kind your bike has and clip the other side off.I don't even PRETEND to be a bike mechanic or know if this is common. I just needed it done, did a little research, and watched a couple YouTube examples and jumped right in... it takes a tiny bit more skill - well- dexterity/experience than it appeared on the videos, but nothing you can't do on your own - if you're slightly mechanically inclined, and/or adventurous.TIP (experienced I'm sure know, but - I did it by accident and discovered why that was a very smart idea later)I would suggest cutting the brake line WAY WAY longer than you initially need- you can keep trimming it before you crimp the end-cap on the line.- REASON: if you don't cut/trim the end of the line CLEANLY with your cutters (don't try regular wire cutters, get the tool), one of the braids will begin to separate & unwind along the length of the line- this will prevent the line from sliding effortlessly and smoothly in the sheath of the wire.Fortunately, I had cut just the tip not needed, ran the whole line through the trimmed (to the length needed) cable shielding and while doing many things, one of those strands began to unwind... I traced it up the line and thankfully it was below where I needed to trim anyway. I got better line snips, cut it 2 more times (once more a half way to where I needed it to ensure those snips would cut the braided cable cleanly enough to not unwind), then again where I needed...I crimped the tip (provided in the package) and locked it down with the bolt that clamps on the cable to hold it in place... I tucked the 4-6" extra wire down under the edge of the brake calipers and it was perfect (after re-adjusting the brakes for proper distance and brake handle squeeze).

One of the best quality, brake cables

Japanese quality is something else. I purchased 2 other cables, by other brands and had problems. This one, perfect!
