Taking a while to grow but dark and beautiful
The original Black Beauty is dark and has taken a minute to grow. I just overseeded and hopefully the patches will fill up soon.

Best Fescue
This is one of the very best fescues on the market, the seed has fewer weeds than most competitors, it is a very dark green and has good germination

Color okay. Everything else about this seed is difficient.
Gave it ideal growing conditions and 3 months later it is mostly dead. Came in lush and green and then just slowly died out. Apparently it has no disease resistance or heat tolerance. Worst grass seed I've ever encountered it 30+ years. My fault for buying it on color alone. There is so much more to consider when choosing lawn grass seed. Do your homework. If you have sod growers in your area find out what they use.

Works better than expected!
Had recently destroyed my yard digging trenches for new drainage around my house and threw this seed down once done. Unfortunately, we had a torrential downpour that wasn't in the forecast a day later, but the seed that didn't get washed away grew almost 2 inches in a week. Ordered more!

Thick and deep green
So far so good. I planted in the fall over a month before the first freeze. The grass germinated in about a weeks since the temperatures were still around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. I got this grass because it is supposed to be drought-resistant and in those locations where the sun shines almost all day other grasses have dried up and blown away, even here in New England, and with faithful watering. I also had good soil from a nursery spread, and that is essential for results.I liked it so much that I bought the 20 pound bag. However, I was too late in the season for it to grow as intensely as the first test bag. The real test will be next summer, however...

SO FAR SO GOOD
OVER SEEDED A FEW WEEKS AGO AND MOWED FOR THE FIRST TIME LAST WEEK. VERY THICK CARPET OF BEAUTIFUL GREEN GRASS. MISSED A FEW SPOTS SO WILL TAKE CAR OF THOSE. SEED SEEMS A LITTLE EXPENSIVE BUT BELIEVE IT IS WELL WORTH IT. I HAVE CRAPPY VIRGINIA CLAY SOIL, TREATED MY YARD (IF YOU CAN CALL IT THAT) WITH ROOT RUCKAS & HUMIC ACID (3) WEEKS BEFORE I AERATED THE DEVIL OUT OF MY YARD THEN SEEDED, THEN WATERED EVERY OTHER DAY FOR HALF AN HOUR. VERY PLEASED WITH THE OUTCOME. ALSO PUT DOWN PEAT MOSS ON SEED EXPOSED TO SUN AND BIRDS AND DIS THE TRICK. BEFORE THIS WHEN IS USED TO MOW I'D BE ROLLING THROUGH A DUST CLOUD, NOT NO MORE BABY!!

This grass sprouted but the color of it isn't deep green like the rest of the lawn
I have Marathon II sod that has been installed for about 5 years. I had some grub damage and thought I'd try this seed. I should've stuck with the Marathon seed though. This grass sprouted but the color of it isn't deep green like the rest of the lawn. It's been growing for 3 months now and does not match the rest of the lawn. It is a light, lime green color instead of the dark green like the rest of the lawn. I thought it was because the grass was in its infancy but it has not changed color, even when fertilized with the rest of the lawn. I will have to tear out this grass and go find some more Marathon.
