Pro-Parts New Replacement 91-2258 V-Belt for Toro Lawnmower 3/8"x35"

I have Toro self propelled 20016 series self propelled mower and order this belt to replace the original. It said it was the replacement for the original belt based on my model and serial number. I put it on and still had issues with the self propel function of the mower. Spent hours figuring out what else it could be but always came back to the belt. The Toro website said the original belt is 35". I measured this one and its very close to 36". With the self propelled lever engaged it still seemed a bit loose. I decided to go buy the original Toro belt at my local Ace hardware and to make a long story short it worked perfectly and the self propel feature works like a new mower. While this belt saved a few bucks, it was better to go with the original part.

The belt arrived and installed it on my mower. It was the proper size for the older Toro front wheel drive that I put it on and first test showed it worked. The problem came after about 3-4 hours of use. After I mowed 3-4 times I noticed the drive wheels were no longer engaging. I adjusted the cable to increase tension but that didn’t help. The belt continued to slip.Went to thee local hardware store bought a 35” x 3/8” belt, for $6.49, and mower works fine again.

Arrived as promised; installed on mower, however, it did not fix the issue of the drive wheels not turning. It seems to be binding on something. It’s an old mower; I tried to do a fix for low $, but it did not work. Mama wants a new model, so just getting a new mower. A shame since this Toro mower still runs fine except for the FWD.

My Toro mower requires a square (not hex) bit to remove the pulley cover to install the belt.

This belt is too big and doesn't fit my Toro self-propelled mower. It's the same size as the stretched-out OEM belt and won't engage the drive mechanism.
