Awesome product
Amazing product. I was debating between this or is sling pack and Allen’s version which was about half the price. I am glad I went with the Orvis because of its size and material. Love the forsepts holder on the strap.

Packs alot for its size well worth it.
Very pleased with this pack. It arrived fast in the mail. I wasn't sure if I wanted the guide version of this for it bigger size but I'm glad I didnt as this has plenty of room already inside. Will be able to hol my two fly boxes and have room from a lunch snack and emergency kit incase for whatever reason I'd get lost in the woods. I do have room for more fly boxes I just dont have the flies for them. Still have plenty of dry flies nymphs and some streamer and emerges. The pack feels and looks built very well. Zippers are sturdy and the stitching throughout the pack looks flawless. If I have any troubles with this pack I will update my review

Great pack!
Nice sling pack. I have the older version and bought this for my wife. I might give her the other one. This has more inside pockets and a water bottle holder which is actually nice on those hot days.

Best pack I've had so far
I regularly go fly fishing, and this is now my favorite pack I've owned. I've used vests and waist packs until now. Vests I can get away with wearing in colder months, but once it starts to get warm they make me too hot, and everything needs to be in its own little pocket (it can be hard to keep track of what is where). Waist packs always got in the way when I had them in front and I never found one that could easily slide to my back/side; the smaller ones had limited space, and the larger ones were uncomfortable and weighed down my waders. This sling pack strikes a great balance of utility and comfort. I don't keep a tone in it so it is so lightweight I forget I'm wearing it. In the big pocket I store 2 medium and 1 smallish fly box, plenty for a day's fishing. I also keep my tippet wheels on a lanyard in that big pocket. The other main pocket is where I keep my extra tippet wheels, split shot, indicators, and a leader wallet. The little sleeve on the front is where I have my nippers on a zinger and is easy to access. I keep my hemostats in the little sleeve w/ magnetic retention on the sling part. When I first started using it I had to get accustomed to slinging the pack to my front to access the pockets, but it's become second nature now. Use the snapping buckle when you've got the pack on your back so it doesn't slide around when you bend over. A minor annoyance to remember at first, but again once I was used to it I don't notice anymore. I do suggest that you have two hemostats with you, one to keep in the sleeve retention when it's slung on your back and you need them to remove a hook from fish, and another kept on the pack's main pocket if you need them when changing your rig.I have two suggestions for improving the pack:1. Add another pocket on the sling near where the hemostat holder is big enough for an average size desiccant bottle. Since I don't usually feel like slinging the pack around after each fish takes a dry fly, I just keep desiccant in my front wader pocket. It's not a huge deal but it would make the pack near-perfect.2. I think making a version of the pack that had a more boxed/hard frame would help. Because the material is crushable, it kind of collapses around the contents so you have to really hold it open to root down to the bottom. I'm not sure how it would affect the comfort, but it would help with access to the contents. Those suggestions are just ideas, this is definitely the best pack I've had so far, then again it's the first sling pack I've tried. If I get another sling pack, I might go bigger, for storing more larger fly boxes, and maybe a crushable rain jacket. Bottom line: you won't be disappointed, at least I wasn't.

Great pack.
Love it. My son uses it and it's even gone on a trip through the rapids on his back. While it's not completely waterproof it kept 95% of the water out . There was only dampness in the pack after a 100 yard ride through the rapids. He still uses it every time he goes out. He has recommended it to all his friends and one who has a simms version isn't as happy .

Replace your vest!!!!!
What can I say, it really does the job!! Plenty of room to carry everything you need for a day on the water. Slide it around and everything is right there. Slide it back and it’s like nothing is there. Much more efficient to carry and actually less bulky than a vest fully outfitted.

Travel Light but Stay Geared Up
There are so many sling packs to choose from - and I’m not even sure how I landed on this one - but regardless I really love the utility of it.I’m not a fly fisher (which is what these sling packs are designed for) but it works and made me think hard about how to “gear down” to walk around in the river.Previously I had a Browning backpack specifically designed for fishing but I’ve switched over to this now.

The Orvis Safe Passage Sling Pack is the best designed day pack for fishing I have ever used
The Orvis Safe Passage Sling Pack is the best designed day pack for fishing I have ever used. It holds all the essentials you need for a day of fishing without being too big or cumbersome. Stays securely at your side when you don't want it in the way while fishing but still allows quick and easy access when you need it.
