So Far, So Good
Beautiful design, easy to understand but get your electrician to install this. I could never have installed this because it requires a double-pole 50 amp, 240 volt circuit breaker. I didn’t have any space in my panel so I needed a subpanel installed and some main panel rewiring in order to be properly installed and up to code. The good news is that Xcel Energy has some serious rebates for buying and installing one of these and enrolling in their EV charging program. With those rebates, it significantly brought down the cost of the unit (which is now even cheaper than when I bought it a few weeks ago) and the installation. The only issue was that the Chargepoint Pro Installer app didn’t work right so my electrician couldn’t finish the activation. But the homeowner Chargepoint app worked fine. I got it registered and activated without a problem. I called Chargepoint tech support and they locked it for me to a maximum of 40-amp charging (which is what is recommended and required by code here IF you are using a plug-in 14-50 NEMA outlet, like I am, on a 50-amp circuit). The circuit wiring MUST be copper (enclosed in conduit) and boy is that stuff thick and heavy! This unit can be installed as hardwired for 50-amp charging BUT it would require a higher amp circuit and heavier duty wiring. Again, for your safety, please have this (or any EV charger) installed by a licensed, insured master electrician. And don’t forget to check for rebates from your utility company, like Xcel.

Good outdoor charger
This charger replaced my Ford charger that I was using for my Mach-E. The electrician specializes in home chargers and originally did mine, so he specifically recommended this charger for outside. I've been using it for 2 weeks with no issues. I read through the directions and realized quickly that this needed to be done by a professional. The electrician did it with no issues. Im currently getting all my paperwork together to get a $120 rebate through Dominion VA.

Great charger (car not listed in app but doesnt matter)
Loving this charger. I have it set to 40A and is fast enough for daily uasge. The app that accompanies it is simple and easy to use and great for tracking charge history. I also like the fact that I can reference my electric company and it asks for the plan i’m on - it then automatically sets a schedule to avoid peak charge rates and uses the correct cost per kwh for my specific plan when showing charging activity. My car (cadilac vistiq) isn’t listed in the available cars in the app yet (from some online searches this seems to be a common problem for recently released EVs). However the specific car choice only seems to affect the estimate of miles from kwh when looking at charge activity (kwh and estimated cost are probably more useful anyway). If the app developers can’t keep up with OEM vehicle releases then would be good if they let the user optionally specify car specs manually. Overall very happy with this charger.

Terrible quality, non-existent support, $600 garbage piece
ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. Never again. Don't read reviews of people who posted it while owning this for less than a year!!!Charger worked Ok for 1/2 a year and then problems started. Customer support is non-existent. You can create issues - those are never responded to. You can call them and stay forever on the line till the call fails. There's no support, no maintenance, devices are garbage. You will be unable to subscribe to any EV-support programs with your electricity provider, as they will require to share statistics with them and Charge Point home charger will work with your wifi for couple months then will turn into a brick with no connectivity. And again, support in non-existent. I'm trying to reach them, out for A YEAR already and have not received a single response yet.It will stop charging randomly and you will not get ANY notifications. At all. You will just wake up to an empty battery. You will have to power-cycle it (as in switch your circuit breaker off for 15 mins and then on) FEW TIMES EVERY DAY. You can't leave it working for the night, as it will randomly stop charging and you'll realize you have nothing to drive in the morning.Get ANY of other manufacturers, I have my friends using quite a variety of others - this is by far the worst and the most expensive. This is $600 garbage box.
