Rough Country 6" Lift Kit for 1988-1998 Chevy/GMC C1500/K1500/SUV 4WD -27630

This was quite a project. I replaced an older TrialMaster 4" lift. That made it a little more of a chore but well worth it. I had to go back to stock tie rod adjuster sleeves and upper control arms. Took my son and I a good 24 hours off and on to complete the installation. My 99 Tahoe rides so much nicer. I would recommend this lift.

3/16" upper control arm brackets were spot welded, not welded all the way down the seams like they should be. I wouldn't put these upper brackets on anything. The lower crossmembers for your control arms are just basically 3/16" tabs that have no reinforcement. Not impressed at all. For what it was worth, the draglink was really heavy duty, the kit did come complete in 7 boxes and RC sent me return labels immediately. If your on the road 100% of the time this kit will work but don't ever go off road with it. I just ended up doing a sas swap on my chevy.

I would like to say that Rough Country customer support team and warranty replacement is second to none. I installed this lift kit a year ago myself and it was a fun project. Kit was missing a bag and RC sent me what I was missing within a week at no cost to me. Broke an upper ball joint in one of the RC control arms, had a new one within a week at no cost to me. Superior product considering the cost. There’s a few things that I can share to save you months of time and head banging to get your ride right. If you turn the torsion keys up to level or take some rake out of your pickup, you will need the RC upper control arms to obtain the stock comfortable ride with no bump stop clapping and to have the front end aligned properly. If you have the stepside single driveshaft like mine you will fight a vibration at certain speeds that will drive you crazy, the solution to that for my pickup was to install 4” flat blocks, the 4” tapered blocks that come with the RC kit throw the pinion angle off. Single drive shaft, the pinion and the tail shaft must be parallel. The pickup drives, rides and handles better than it ever has today.

Lift is easy to in stall if you have 2-3” keys installed you might have to bend your brake line bracket a little to keep slack in it so it don’t break. I got the 6 inch and my buddy has a 4” on his square body very good product would buy again.

Everything was complete. Great finished product. Do not attempt to install yourself unless you have some mechanical experience. My add a leaf was longer then the leaf with the clamps. I had to weave it in and was not fun. Instructions are for someone that has worked on there rig.
