I wanted this book for my sister but no where in the description did it say it was a used library book

I am writing a book about turn of the century Philadelphia. This book is perfect for my research into the city's history. The book has hundreds of black and white vintage rare photographs of the city's vitality.While the book was first published in 1983, it is still relevant and includes historical background in prose. The book begins with the 1890s where the country was in a recession and ends in the 1940s during World War II era. The book has excellent photographs of Philadelphians in the age of early photography.The book is ideal for those who are interested in Philadelphian history and urban photography.

Nice Philadelphia history

This book covers many untold stories of Philadelphia in the period covered. It goes below the surface into the neighborhoods and commercial centers, providing context for how and why things happened the way they did. Interesting photographs with good descriptions.

The historic images contained in the book are fantastic.

This book covered some of the time frames and areas of Philadelphia that I was interested in, but also seemed to miss some of the parts of the Philadelphia story that I was hoping just might be in the book too.

It's a poorly made paperback with a hard cover. The cheap glue at the binding cracks when you open the book, and the pages are falling out. It has me wondering whether this isn't a knock-off. I can't believe such a prestigious book is so shoddy. Also, the photographs look washed-out and blurry. Those old gigantic black-and-whites should look like a million bucks.EDIT: I have since gotten a look at the real book from the library. It is a properly bound book with high-resolution glossy pictures. DO NOT BUY THIS RIP-OFF!
