"Value for money", says Mugabe.
A 185 USD / ~12,000 rupees drive is getting sold for 45,000/36,000 rupess for kicks. India is the land of opportunities, become a politician and rob the people blind. Do it.

Works well, nice looks, and I like thar it's energy-efficient (potentially longer-lasting, also)

Very large slow storage drive for every general purpose use.. see update
Well nothing much to tell other than this uses a modified version of the WDC RED NAS drives..I had some trouble copying files it as it would sometimes give a read/write error.. Before with other drives clicking retry would not fix the problem but here it just continues copying. I think the firmware changes to convert the red nas drive into this external backup drive was not fully tested so the error retries must be set to a lower threshold than previous drives..The drive does run at least 5C cooler for the same set of tasks.. It does feel heavier than the 5 platter 5TB drive I have and is much slower as well with around 160mb transfer rates compared to the 220mb I get with the 5TB. For a storage drive this works just fine though, I prefer the lower temperature and power requirements.. It comes with a 1.5A DC adapter.. Which I had last seen before the 2TB days as now 2A is the norm for most and the 5TB came with 3A.. Normal idle consumes like 6-8Watts of power so the 1.5A providing 18watts must be enough to get it spinning and operating.. These HGST design does use more power than the WDC designs and does make more noise but in the long run it seems the HGST parts last much better and have lower failures..Reliability being far more important than anything else is the main reason for selecting this drive. I could have got two 4TB drives cheaper and one way to look at that is, even if 1 drive fails I only lose half the data.. But 2 drives also means twice the chances of drive failures.. I would have been really nervous about using most brands for such large storage needs.. Reliability is very important at this point. Data loss and drive failures at this point are unacceptable. Even a 1% failure means if I am the unlucky one would be in a world of hurt if I was part of the statistic.. So took the chance to get a more reliable drive by paying a little more.. Checking the warranty which seems to only be for 2 years tells me this drive is only for the US markets and it is out of region. So I would need to have a friend in the US if I wanted warranty service. Not a problem for 99% of the people and hopefully the 1% with bad luck already lives in the US.Some reviews out there compared this to the WDC red nas drive and got identical performance and command structures.. Only difference being TLER for NAS use being disabled in this version and have to be manually set using a command. But the option is not fully compliant with standard drives as mentioned above since other error routines also need to be modified which does not seem to be fully tested. Understandable since these were designed for NAS use and then ported for backup use. The first version of these drives used server NAS 7200RPM version of these drives which were much faster, although still not as fast as the 5TB drives I have.. The faster speeds comes from using higher density platters. So more platters must mean using more reliable lower density and longer tested platters.. If you are not a speed demon, go for it.. I was worried about many things before I got it, but overall I am happy with it, taking much longer to move files over is a problem but go get something to eat while it is doing it. Anything over 100MB sustained speeds are sufficient for most tasks.. Unlike SMR drives this also does not slow down in the middle of a task or show other weird problems. The USB controller seems to be a generic japanese third party design used by some others as well but it is locked to this particular drive. What I REALLY like about it, is it does NO address translations.. So if the controller breaks I can hook it to the computer SATA port and recover the data. this is not the case for other manufacturers where if the controller fails, you need to get another similar controller to recover the data and third party or another controller will not recover the data. Hopefully those others wont lock the controller to a particular drive like they do here as since even another identical controller wont allow you to recover the data. So it all works out at least in this case..Update, A very sad thing happened as I was finishing up 'moving' data from older much smaller hard drives to this one. After reaching over 5TB of data, the UPDS beeped and the computer shut down, on rebooting the drive would not show up. It makes a humming sound but not the usual platters spinning up. Partition software all see the drive but as a 0 byte drive and can not initialize the drive. So I lost over a terabyte of data as I was cleaning up the older drives and putting them in storage. So although I did not lose all the data, I did lose a significant portion of tv shows I was waiting to watch on a rainy day and some pictures from some important events. So I did end up as the 1%.. Since it was in the 30 day window I sent the drive back to amazon but shipping cost were very high and being out of region, WDC would not accept warrantee service. So there is the caveat that you don't delete stuff from older drives you don't need any more and just leave them on the drive and put them in storage and that you make sure warranty service is available. I did lose some data and pics but not as bad as it could have been.

Excellent quality, looks great, Western Digital has been super reliable for me for years
It is more like 4.5 stars, due to the software, but I'm rounding up due to quality, value, and many years of great Western Digital drives. I love the drive, enclosure, and build quality. I have three internal Western Digital Drives (1TB and 2 4TB) and two older external Western Digital Drives (1.5TB and 2 TB) and have never had an issue with any of them. So I consider their quality high and their reliability the best. You can tell that WD reliability is often considered the best because their HDD consistently have the highest average star rating on Amazon, New Egg, and Best Buy.I do not like the software included at all as it just doesn't work as well as some free backup software like EaseUS ToDo backup, which I've used before. I ended up not going with any software, and just using this as a file backup I update every 6 months or so. I have about 6TB of video, 1TB of music (which I don't even listen to anymore due to Spotify), and 500GB of pictures. It copied it all super quickly via USB 3.0.

Lost Wedding Footage Drive Failure
If you are a professional that needs to back up or store data, DO NOT USE THIS DRIVE. Spend the money and get a Drobo or something with redundancy. I am a wedding videographer and produce mass amounts of data from films that need to be stored before and after they have been edited. Before I was using a WD passport 2TB to back up my old projects but decided I need more space and to prepare for the future, I bought this. So I put my 2TB worth of wedding footage on to the 8 TB drive. I had plans for redundancy by uploading everything to Amazon Drive, but I guess I waited too long. Only two weeks after installing this drive it crashed. I blame WD and a crappy firmware or software update. Because not only this drive failed, my 2TB WD passport failed as well. Both were plugged in and I updated WD software and then poof I could no longer see the drives in Windows Explorer. I only had the option of formatting the drives in disk management, meaning I lost everything. I tried running disk recovery but it only found a few files. Lucky for the weddings that I hadn't completely finished on the drive, I found some usable footage elsewhere. I will be purchasing a Drobo without WD drives in the future. If WD would like to front the money for that it would be greatly appreciated. WD fix your software/firmware, you almost caused two couples to lose the footage of the happiest day of their lives.
