Ameritex Waterproof Dog Bed Cover Pet Blanket for Furniture Bed Couch Sofa Reversible

I always look for a product that is waterproof to cover an ottoman that my cat, for some reason, likes to pee on. Before I even put any waterproof cover on the ottoman, I put a tight-fitting waterproof cover on it first (because the current cover I was using was supposed to be waterproof, but the urine always went through it and directly onto AND into the ottoman). Then I would have to pull out my "Green Machine" to wash the ottoman, which is a lot of work trying to absorb the urine and get the smell out. Please excuse me mentioning another product but FYI "Angry Orange" is an amazing product and is an excellent addition for washing dog beds, covers or whatever needs a little extra help for smelling good and removing the urine smell. It's a concentrate (and smells like oranges), so you just put a few drops in with your liquid detergent. It's awesome!So, I bought this throw, put it on the ottoman and then waited for the cat to pee on it eventually. She didn't disappoint me. She peed on it and THIS COVER DID WHAT IT SAYS IT WILL DO. It is absolutely waterproof. Nothing went through it and the tight-fitting cover beneath was NOT wet and did NOT have any smell on it. I WAS THRILLED! FINALLY, SOMETHING THAT IS TRUE TO IT'S WORD!!!!!But here was my problem… because the urine didn't leak through, it sat on top of the cover so when my cat peed on it in one of the corners of the ottoman, it ran down the side of it and onto the floor. So, this cover won't be good for the ottoman, but I still truly recommend this product, because it does work! I had not taken into consideration that the urine would sit on top of the cover. Had the urine not run down the side and onto the floor, my dog would have jumped up on ottoman eventually to lay on it and look out the window and could have laid in the urine. Not everyone is dealing with the cat pee situation and will be using it for normal circumstances, so this really could work well for you.I love the material and how it looks so clean and neat. I will still be using this cover on a small couch that is designated "the dog's couch" which I keep covered at all times. I don't want "the wet spot" from him licking his paws, etc., or any hair and possible doggy smell going directly on the couch. This way, I can wash and dry the throw, put it back on the couch and everything stays smelling great. By the way, this washes and dry's really well and quickly.If you’re looking for a cover something so regular spills don’t soak into your couch, bed or whatever, this cover is PERFECT. If it’s to cover a piece of furniture that your cat likes to pee on, then it might not be for you because of the urine sitting on top of the throw. All in all, it’s a great product and I'm going to buy another one to have on hand.I apologize for the lengthy review, but this is the kind of information I look for when reading a review on an item I want to buy.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Bought for the aesthetic look and that they can easily be placed down and taken off to wash. Durable fabric that is waterproof and has held up to multiple washes in the washing machine and drying. This is a product I would buy again if I needed too and it would also work well with potty training on the floor or for those stubborn puppies who do not like to go out in rainy weather.

Works well. We used two of these to cover nice rugs while the puppy was being house broken. We did notice the liquid was very easy to clean up when the covers were brand new since the liquid would bead up and pool on top of the cover. However, after washing the unit 1 time the liquid no longer beaded up, but soaked directly into the cover. But the liquid still never went onto the rug so the cover was still performing it's job. Well worth the investment.

These are absolutely waterproof. We have a rescue cat who occasionally has 'accidents' when he is stressed...and unfortunately lately he chose my husband's brand new sectional. I bought these on the advice of a friend who does dog rescue and boy do they work. I bought two so that I could switch them out as needed. I ordered the second longest one and it fits the sofa perfectly and when the cat was freaked out by the fireworks and did his thing on Friday night the sofa was completely protected. I wiped up the mess with paper towels, whipped the first one into the laundry and covered the sofa with the spare. The first one washed and dried beautifully. The dark brown matches the color of the furniture and we actually sat on it (no more 'accidents' this weekend thank goodness) to watch tv and totally forgot it was there. Great for furniture protection from dumb little beasts that you love too much to rehome.

3 stars only because it is shorter than what I paid for. And This is like the 6th one ive purchased to quell the car urine if Sammy, who hates my Sofa. Most likely there is a Ghost sitting there or the previous tenants had a pissy sofa in the same spot and Sammy keeps marking his territory. None the less, the cover seems thinner than the last one I ordered... Not sure with that. Urine soaks straight through it and goes to the soaf that its supposed to protect. I can't send it back because I just purchased it, he peed on it immediately and now its in the washer.

Worked perfectly over the back of our Beautiful burgundy 1930's reupholstered couch. The couch gets morning into late morning sun on the back of it though our big picture window. This "Dog" blanket works perfectly as a throw over the top and back to protect from the sun. It also matches the color nicely and the size was just right. Was a great price for a perfect fix to protect our couch. It seems to be well made.

I’ve used these for years as a dog cover for my sofas. Nice soft and durable fabric but fyi NOT at all waterproof, hence only 4 stars.
