I felt absolutely beautiful in this dress. I saw a friend with it and she encouraged me to get one and it was one of the best decisions I've made. It fits wonderful, true to size and the material feels amazing. Great quality.

This is the first piece of clothing I have ever bought on Amazon. Based on previous reviews, I purchased this dress. And I am really glad that I did. Absolutely amazing. I am in a band, and I bought it for our first gig, and I felt so good in it! Having the belt at the waist that isn’t attached or sewn in makes it really forgiving as to the waist size. I will be able to wear this even if my weight should happen to change. My bust size was smaller than this was made for, so in the interim, I just used a heavy double sided sticky tape to keep it closed about 1/2” up from the snap. I’ll take it in to the tailor to have it altered to fit properly. The length was great. Just below the knee. I wore it with a pair of boots that come to the top of my calves, and it was great. The fabric has a great hand (it’s sort of like a thin neoprene) and it hides a lot of sins, so to speak. It falls really well over the body. It was *not* hot to wear. The fiber content on the tag was clearly wrong (it said 100% cotton), so I’m not sure what it is.I got it in black. It’s a very rich black, had a nice sheen, without being shiny. It was wrinkled when it showed up, but I hung it up, and a lot of them hung out. A couple of days in the bathroom exposed to steam in there from the shower, and most of them were gone. The last of them I hit with the iron. It took five minutes.I did order a crinoline to wear with it, but I didn’t wear it to the gig. It is very cute with it, however. I will probably use it the next time I wear the dress.If in doubt, or on the fence, buy it. You can always return it. I doubt you will!

UPDATE, AFTER WASHINGAlas, this shrank so much after being washed in cold water and line-dried that it's now become a minidress, which looks stupid on me, so I'm giving it away. So be prepared to dry clean it, unless you like your hems to land well above the knee.------------------------I got a compliment literally *the minute* I walked into the office wearing this. Perfect length, gorgeous color, flattering sleeves, makes me feel Ready For Anything.I'm about 210 lbs, 44-37-46, 38G rack, so I got the XXL. It fits perfectly, except that the surplice top crosses too low for office-level propriety, which is the story with just about every surplice dress, on me. So I've worn it with a  Grey Cotton No Lace Modesty Panel Cleavage Cover Chemisettes by Anne Sz E/xx  and will probably sew the surplice closed, whenever I muster the patience to do so.The only other negatives I can think of are:1. The fabric is very substantial. Which is a plus! It smooths over lumps and bumps, doesn't cling. But it's definitely not summer wear for NYC, so I'l about to have to put it away for a couple of months, which makes me sad.2. The sash is made of different material from the dress. It's stretchier and softer, which is good for a sash, but this also means it's ever so slightly different in shade from the dress. Perhaps the same dye was used, but it reflects light differently.3. No pockets. But we're all used to that, alas.4. I am kicking myself, because I bought a VERY expensive but similarly styled dress at a local shop a few weeks ago, and then I got this one, which is dirt cheap, and…I like this one better. Oh, well. I guess that's not the dress's fault.

This dress is absolutely gorgeous! When I received the package and took the dress out, I thought there was no way it would fit and was sad I would have to return it. I'm so glad I actually tried it on before giving up--the material is stretchy while still holding its shape and it fit me perfectly! I wear a size 18/20 (US) and ordered the XXL and it fits like it was made for me. I'm also large chested (38DDD US) so I always have a hard time finding a dress that fits in the chest while not being huge in the waist--this dress is the ticket! It has plenty of room in the chest and is very flattering on the girls (just enough cleavage without being overkill), nips in at the waist, and then flows out over the hips in a gorgeous A-line. This dress is very slimming and can be dressed up or down easily.The sleeves are a great length for anyone who doesn't like showing their upper arms--the sleeves hit just below/at the elbow and don't restrict motion at all.I was originally worried that the collar was too short and it would look funny, but it's the perfect size and adds a pop of sass to the dress. The v-neck is somewhat deep but very classy--it doesn't make the girls hang out or expose too much cleavage, but it gives a beautiful neckline with just the right amount of cleavage showing.The sash is the same material as the rest of the dress and can be tied in front or back or not used at all (completely detachable, no "belt loops" to worry about if you don't want to wear it).The dress material is slightly heavy, but it is not hot and is fine to wear on a warm day--it's almost likely a heavier stretchy cotton/linen but it breathes very well.I know a lot of people who have bought this dress wear it with an underskirt to give a fuller shape, but if that's not the look you're going for it has plenty of an a-line shape without anything to help it--either way it's a great look!I absolutely recommend this dress to anyone looking for the ultimate "Little Black Dress"--it has a timeless shape, it's very slimming, and can be dressed up or down with the right accessories!
