Very disappointed by this book. I have the "Lofts 2" book which is also published by Good Ideas, and apparently many of the spaces featured in this "150 Best Apartment Ideas" book were the same exact spaces from "Lofts 2," the pictures are the same, even the text/copy and floor plan illustrations are exactly the same things! Very disappointing!

Actually implemented a few in my studio apartment. Very useful and just a fun inspirational book to have around.

150 best house ideas is much better, this one is ok

The design of an apartment presents several challanges not imposed on the designer of a free-standing house. The most restricting is probably size, and second having to deal with walls that probably can't be moved. Even more interesting or challenging is dealing with the confines of an older building that may have beams in strange places, or in one instance in this book a now abandoned water tank on the roof to be converted into a penthouse.As you might guess from the title, this book consists almost exclusively of pictures of 150 apartments from around the world showing how some of the best architects in the world have handled the challenges presented. The apartments are not your low end Government supported housing, but top of the line units in New York, or Milan, or perhaps Melbourne. It makes this an 'idea book' suitable for any architects office.The book itself is beautifully printed on heavy weight paper and the book has a sewn binding with headbands, features that will make it last a long time even with heavy usage.

Packed full of beautiful photography and great ideas, this is the book I keep coming back to when I get the itch to redo a room or simply dream of future places. I seem to discover new things every time I look through it.

This is a great inexpensive book to get you thinking about design ideas. There are excellent pictures and a little text to briefly describe what is happening. It would have been nice to get a more detailed description of how things are actually built... but a great book to casually look through.

このお値段でこのボリューム！全ページカラーです。厚さが5.4cmもあるので、開いて読むときカバーが邪魔になり、はずして読んでます。さて、中身なのですが、デザイナーが頑張りましたって感じの、高所得者じゃなきゃ手にいれられないようなお宅ばかり。で、物も少なく人もほとんど写っていないので、ショールームを見ているかのようです。私はどの部屋にも住みたくないなあって思いました。無機質というか生活感が無いというか・・自分はこんな部屋に住むほどの人間じゃないと思って落ち着けなさそう。このサイトのサンプルで見られるページの写真は、この本の中ではかなりカジュアルな方です。たとえばジャンク系のインテリア本って居住者のこだわり(生活信条みたいなものとか）が煩く感じる時があり、私は時々辟易してしまうのですが、この本はもっと純粋にデザイン美・構成美を追求した部屋が載っているので、ある意味潔いです。ですから、これからデザイナーに注文住宅を依頼して、使い勝手は悪くてもアイデア満載で生活感のないおしゃれな空間を手に入れて、渡辺篤史の建もの訪問に取材されたい人には良いですが、自分の部屋の模様替えのヒントを探してる人や生活者のセンスの良さに触発されたい人には向きません。私は生活者のセンスの良さに触発されたい方の人間なのですが、さすがにこれだけのボリュームのデザイン美のカラー写真を目の当たりにすると、人間の美への探究心に頭の下がる思いです。なんか、脱帽って感じ。それに美しいものはやっぱり見ていて楽しいし。各お宅の平面図が小さく載っていますが、小さすぎだしはしょりすぎで、あんまり役に立ちません。それに口惜しいほど広いから、じっくり見てると腹たちます。(笑）

想像してたものと全くちがってました。最も私が浅はかなだけですが、もっとアパートという小さな空間でのアイデア、工夫を楽しめると思ってましたが、ただただオシャレなだけでモデルルームのパンフレットみたいなものでした。あと、全体的に似た傾向の部屋が多いので、個性やセンスに触発されたい人には不向きかもしれません。近代モダンを好む人には面白いかもしれませんが・・・
