With these screws, there's no challenge I can't conquer!!
After watching a couple youtube videos, I took a 42' seamless aluminum gutter off the back of my house by myself. I built a few wooden brackets to hold it in place while I pulled out all the gutter spikes, and then carefully lifted it off the brackets at one end at a time until I had it on the ground, undamaged. That has nothing to do with these screws. I just wanted to brag about it.Then, I put the whole thing back up, again by myself, and used these screws instead of the old spikes I took out. They worked great.

Great product; missing items in package
I've use these screws in previous project with good results, so I purchased more.As I was using the screws, I noticed there were only 10 screws in the package, and one of them was 8" instead of 10." I have already installed most of these in my home project, so it's not reasonable to return this item to Amazon.I contacted the manufacturer to see if they can correct the problem by sending the 2 missing screws.

I guess 11 good out of 12 isn't that bad
But at the price per unit, I expect these all to be straight. Mine package came with 11 good ones and one completely bent one. I tried to straighten in vice and 10 other ways but no dice, this thing must have been forged this way. These are supposed to be top quality, so that was a disappointment. My plans called for an exact number of screws and I had to improvise and compromise for the last one.

Great - Account for driver size when recessed
These are great. I used these short ones for hinges mostly, but for the longer ones on the roof, some I needed to recess the head. That was not fun until I realized the trick - use a square bottom bit (auger or forstner on hardwood) then countersink. A large enough countersink to drive the head recessed means you can't match the head since there is a flat bit above the angle. That compression maybe not important for soft-wood rough construction, but if you are attaching hardwood for appearance it becomes an issue).

Buy a 5/16" drill bit
Used these on 6x8 railroad ties. They didn't snap despite a couple failed drives without predrilled holes. 4 stars because the threads are not self clearing. YOU MUST DRILL A HOLE. I recommend a 5/16" x 10 or 12 inch bit. Worked well for me, since thats what I had. Including bit was nice and nothing stripped. Would have liked another inch or 2 of threads, but they're holding well for now in the beat up ties.

Excellent fasteners
Product delivered as stated. I made a few test project with these Timber Screws and the work well. sturdy, reliable and mo most importatantly, the heads did not strip. Be sure to used the included bit and you will be able to drive these screws with ease and without damaging them or you project. There's no slipping with the supplied driver.

The Best!!!!
I ordered these Timberline screws to secure 4 x 4 pressure treated posts to my steps before pouring cement. I used a B&D 20 Volt drill with hex bit that came with screws. They went through the posts like butter with no pre drilling necessary. Study as a rock ... couldn't ask for more!!!!

Save time and secure your investment
I built a retaining wall from 6x6 pressure treated lumber, and these 10 inch screws were fantastic to work with. They drive straight and clean with no pilot hole and I ended up using about 40 of them and not a single one broke or stripped or disappointed in any way. I didn't realize that the package comes with a hex driver so I had also bought a socket driver for my drill which turned out to be unnecessary. I had recently bought a low speed high torque drill (9 amp, 1/2" chuck, 850rpm max, 400 ft-lbs of torque) for mixing mortar so it was ideal for driving these screws. While they went in pretty easily, I don't think I would risk burning out the motor of a lower spec drill. I'm certain these screws were worth the money in time savings and long term structural stability of the wall.
