Briggs & Stratton is not a good motor to buy anymore
After a month of trying to get this motor to work on a log splitter. Which was what I specified that I needed log splitter motor. I had to make some modifications to the shop for it to be able to fit down into my log splitter. I have tried to start it and it says ready start. That's a bunch of BS it is not ready to start cuz the freaking coil ain't no good. No spark, no return now what do I do with my $250 I'm out? Also the book that they send you is the stupidest book that I have ever seen in my life as far as an owner's manual. Where are the words that explain what the picture side because the pictures don't explain it to me. There's ex's and circles with lines in it so stop don't put gas in stop don't put oil in do put oil in do put gas in what the heck is a person supposed to do. I expected Briggs & Stratton to warranty my motor and send me a new coil because I have no spark on a brand new motor. And it is not ready to start as it says it i

Easy to install hard to start
Okay I bought a 7.25 item received at first it would not start would not get fired but located under the gas tank and under the handle you will find a little lever you have to remove the spring pull the lever to the left and it will start I'm using this on a 22-ton log splitter and it is working perfectly now

Great engine for the price
Ordered this engine and it was here in two days. Used this engine to replace an old worn out Tecumseh on my favorite mower. Mounting holes needed to be tapped for mounting bolts that's all. Fit perfectly on old deck and all engine control cables hooked up no problem. Added gas and oil, started easily on first pull and have used it now for several mows with no problems at all. Starts easy every time hot or cold, great engine for the price.

Brand new engine won't start, dangerous kickback
I should have paid more attention to the reviews which is why I'm writing this one even though I don't usually write reviews. Started the first time after a couple of pulls and never started again. Kickback while trying to start it nearly broke my wrist on more than one occasion even when I was watching for it. Seller said I had to take it to a B and S authorized dealer which I did. They said they had the same bad kickback but did manage to get it running after adjusting the valves - which you shouldn't have to do on a new engine. After getting it back from them it still wouldn't start. It's going in the dumpster, and I guess I'll have to try a different brand.

Great value
This engine has had a few negative comments but I fail to find their rationale. This engine demonstrates how Briggs has stepped up their game on recent years with the overhead valve engines. My experience couldn't have been better. ( In order to directly bolt to my Snapper High Vac, I did thread the mounting holes, which were predrilled to the correct size).I mounted the engine, filled the oil and filled with gas... it started on the first pull.I mowed about an hour, and it restarted every time on the first pull.No issues what so ever.

Snapper hi-vac motor replacement
I liked this motor as direct bolt on (no drilling) replacement for snapper hi-vac mower. Also that air filter is now on opposite side of grass discharge chute, thus lessening air filter replacement. Light weight and its rather strong. Note there is no throttle control. It starts and runs, simply set engine rpm as needed adjusting governor spring. And hooking up operator presence cable for engine break. All done in about 30 mins.
