Very durable and dependable product. Had one for many years that finally needed replaced. Bought a cheaper brand that lasted less than a week , with very poor performance. Went back to this brand. Does what it is supposed to and does it very well

Great product, but a little mis-leading on how low it can drain. The Simmer literature shows it clearing flat roofs at construction sites, but I can't imagine it would work that well. Instructions say it needs to be in 2 inches deep of water, and the pump starts pumping some air when it gets down to the last 1/2-3/4 inch which probably isn't good for the pump.I was going to use this product to clear a flat roof, which would be similar to someone wanting to clear a basement, or have a backup pump for low spots. I would NOT recommend this if you are relying on keeping water at the lowest level possible (as it will leave 3/8 or more of water). I compared this to a Coleman 17-msp which is a 1/6 HP pump. A smaller pump, but actually is rated to pump the same gallons per hour. The Coleman pump not only cleared down to the last 1/4 inch, if I remove the screen it would go lower. The instructions also say to submerge in 3/4 inches of water vs. the Simmer pump which states 2 inches.ALSO - If you are looking at pumps to clear flooded spaces (not pools) 1/6 or 1/4 horsepower is MORE THAN ENOUGH. Its almost too much power for draining a low spot on a flat roof because it will constantly be cycling on and off due to it ability to move so much water.Draining pool - Get the Simmer for speedDraining any other area - Get a Coleman, to keep you from scooping our the last 1/2 inch or using a wet dry vac as much.

I was told this is the best pump and I needed it quickly because my cellar had flooded

The pump performs as promised. It was easy to set up and connect and the hose connection is positioned to be easy to use. Ther is not much of a handle and it should be sturdier. One of the wing was broken off the handle when it arrived. However, the handle, as designed, is not very good anyway, so it was not worth the time to return it,

Bought this pump because our back yard floods during heavy rain. We set the pump up with a hose to the street and the yard drained within a couple hours. Ended up taking it to our daughter's house to help drain their flooded basement. It does NOT drain all of the water from a basement - leaves about ⅓ inch - so not the best for that use, but it kept her laundry sink from overflowing into the basement and took out most of the water.

I have had experience with Simer pumps before and are satisfied with this one; I wish it had an automatic on/off, however.

This unit produces efficient pumping action for the the money. We attached the wider hose to the pump for greater suction.

Friend had one, I used. Heavy, solid, well made, worked just fine. 2nd day I plugged it in and noticed the power cord had been repaired. The OEM box had one wrap of shipping tape and had not been opened as best I could tell. I could feel a butt connector inside the repair, which tells me at least one conductor had been spliced. IMHO This is not acceptable around water. I returned with no questions asked.
