Champion Power Equipment 9375-Watt Dual Fuel Portable Generator, Electric Start

Battle tested during a massive power outage from Hurricane Beryl. It did the job admirably. Is it the quietest? No. Longest continuous run was about 10 hours. The electric start battery had a problem and likely needs replacing even with trickle charger maintenance, but it was still easy enough to hand crank.This generator sat on standby for more than 2 1/2 years with periodic starts before being called to action...and did the job well. The dual fuel option is nice, but in crunch time you're most likely to find gasoline more pletiful unless you want to keep a large propane reserve -- at least that was the case for my home in Houston, TX or in urban areas. Time will tell on its longevity, but when called to duty this generator delivered!

I had intended to review this unit before but must have forgotten. I ordered one in November of 2021. I also ordered a grounding rod and copper ground wire from Amazon at the same time. We do not go camping and we do not live in an area prone to hurricanes. However, we seem to have a multi-hour power interruptions every few months. Subdivision power is under ground but the power arrives at the subdivision entrance above ground.This is a heavy puppy, but the product was delivered by truck and the driver rolled it right into my garage so I could unpack it and attach the wheel kit. The frame includes a handle that allows you to lift the front of the unit and roll it using the rear wheels. I paid attention to the instruction manual and did everything that I was supposed to do. The unit needs a five hour break-in period to properly seat the bearings and seals. During the break-in period you are instructed to vary the power pull intermittently and I did just that by connecting several things via power cords. I also connected two hair dryers and would go out every few minutes to run them. I varied the power on the dryers and when you do that you can see the power consumption change on the indicator on the side of the unit. Hook up to a propane tank is really easy. I ran it some on propane and some on gas. Starting is a breeze with the electric start rocker switch. There is also a manual start option in case you forget to keep the battery charged. I changed the oil immediately after the break-in was completed.And as luck would have it, about four or five months after purchasing this machine and getting it ready for service, one of the underground trunk lines that supply power to our house broke (from corrosion). We had to have that fixed by the power company AND, if that wasn't enough, we also had to replace the power meter on the side of the house and have it all inspected before they would turn out power back on. Champion to the rescue. We were without power for two and a half days, but thanks to this excellent generator, we were able to stay in our house and we were able to run our refrigerator and a free standing freezer in the garage. Did not lose any food and did not have to run back and forth to the store to buy ice in a vain effort to keep existing food cold and/or frozen. Generator ran flawlessly during this time. An absolutely great machine. In fact, we have now taken this generator to a second home that we own on a local lake and I have just ordered a Champion Tri-Fuel generator (from Amazon, #100416) for my primary home so I can hook it up directly to my gas line when needed (runs on Gasoline, Propane or Natural Gas).

We install these on some of our field equipment that stray way off of the grid. Very dependable and well built.

Generator started and ran well, good value for the money. BUT, the generator came in unopened with missing parts. The entire bag for installing the wheels and support feet was missing. UPDATED. I contacted Champion and was sent all the missing parts to now install the wheels and support feet. Took a bit of time and two orders, but now got all the parts. Thanks Champion for making things right. This generator is a good size for a back up for the house incase of power failure; can’t run whole house ACs or heaters, but can run temp ACs/space heaters and frig/freezer.

This generates plenty of power for my house runs water pump fridge A/C Heat pump and tv with no issues. Very good buy.

Easy to unpack and install the included wheel kit. Connect the battery at the connector, add included motor oil and fuel. My unit started using the included battery just fine. Manual pull-cord start was also easy especially considering the engine is 439cc. The full handle makes moving the generator much easier than the single rod handle on some models. I own a 3500W and a 5000W Champion generator and needed some additional capacity. I recommend Champion to anyone who asks.

I have had this generator through Maine winters since 2021. It sits on my outside porch through freezing weather, snow, sleet, heat and humidity and still starts on a dime with the original battery!! This runs my entire house. 5 bed 3 bath. Fridge, washer/dryer, hot water heater, heated floors, air conditioners!! It’s a little loud but for the price WELL worth it! We lose power 3-5 times a year and this has exceeded my expectations!

First unit came and it was bend on one end. A bracket and the generator cover end was dented. After a lengthy messaging conversation I finally got them to replace it. They didn’t want to do that at first. But finally did what was right.The generator that I got on the second try did have a few scratches but acceptable as new.It works good after trying it out on a test run. Will see on longevity.
