The band stretches out on very long takes of Miller classics like "Panther" and "Cousin John," and a 20-minute medley of music Miller wrote for Miles Davis ( /exec/obidos/ts/artist-glance/22296/%24%7B0%7D ). Being an inventive arranger, cover tunes are a highlight of the bassist's records, and he reprises his homage to John Coltrane, "Lonnie's Lament" and adds "Killing Me Softly," and a very poignant version of "I Loves You Porgy."
