Original Part for 2001 Toyota Tacoma
Looked just like the original part. It has been installed for a couple weeks now, working great.

Direct OEM Replacement is the only way to go!
You cannot get better than OEM. Those cheap aftermarket replacements suck, the fitment isn't quite right - they are a bit loose, like the rubber seal they use isn't the same size as original. The finish doesn't match like it should. The aftermarket parts break within weeks of installing... they are meant to replace the handle when you sell the car and let the "next guy deal with it". Do it right the first time...The best way is a direct OEM replacement. As expected, this fit perfectly and came with new clips for the control rods. It does not have a door lock cylinder, you must re-use the one you have already. It slips in and twists until the bolt hole matches up with the hole in the handle, and you're done. The hardest part of replacing this is getting the door panel off, and finding replacement clips. I highly recommend you find the clips before you do this, as they will likely break during removal - especially if you've never taken the door apart before. It will take some force to remove the panel, but be gentle as the panel CAN and WILL break if it is very cold and brittle. It comes pre-greased, the same as if you bought it off the dealership parts counter. In my 2003 Tacoma D/C, it requires you to remove both 10mm bolts and of course the lock rod, and door release rod. Be careful with the plastic parts, they come off easily but may need a bit of leverage. It helped to hit the points with a bit of spray lubricant. There is a plastic plug in the door that you can remove, to gain access to one of the bolts with an extension (that's why it's there!)I recommend using some masking tape around your existing door handle, as it will be very easy to scratch the paint during removal and replacement. Once the new one is in, make sure it lines up perfectly where the old one 'sat'. Make sure it works correctly before you put it all back together. To test the power lock function, you will have to plug in your driver's side window/lock control panel for obvious reasons. All the windows and locks go through the main driver door panel, so it all must be plugged in to test. Don't forget to roll the window up before you start this project. The new handle will likely be a bit stiffer than your existing handle, this is normal.Enjoy opening your door again. Feels good, man.

Fitting and working is the most important
Originally I bought the handles for both the driver and passenger door from Ebay for $11.00. The part looks the same as the original ones. But the passenger side handle can barely work and I need to put a lot of strength on the small finger in opening the door with concern whether the handle will break again. And the driver side handle does not work totally. But magically, once the Toyota Genuine driver side handle was installed, it works perfectly and smooth just like before. Amazing. I can not imagine that the engineering is so precise for such a regular part. For money saving, I recommend to use the Toyota Genuine part for the driver side and the cheap part on the passenger side.

Original parts
I haven't put it in yet but if it's a original part from toyota it's going to be good. I noticed the moving parts were greased.

Heavy duty
It was a lil hard to install but once you got it installed, it's heavy duty. You can tell when you start using it!

Pays to get better quality
My s.o. keeps replacing these and finally after speaking to some Toyota experts they said to get the actual Toyota parts when it comes to these handles. The other replacements would give us issues just after being installed. So far these have worked so much better and we can feel a difference in how much sturdier they are and are not flimsy in any way
