Hurst's HamBeens 15 Bean Soup with Seasoning Packet (8 Pack) 20 oz Bags

Great mix of dried beans. Didn't expect so many lentils, but it is what it is. I didn't follow the package directions exactly and soaked the beans longer than I should have. Also had to use less water than recommended. No matter, I over soaked the lentils, and the rest were OK. Any issues I had with the product were of my own making. Next time, I'll halve both the contents of the bag and how I normally soak dried beans and away we'll go!

The flavor packet included in the bag is wonderful! No real need to add ham but we all know it just gets better with ham and or bacon grease added.

Our weekly home meal of 15 mixture of various beans cooked in packet favoring with either ham hogs, ox tails or meatloaf. Best cooked with Instant Pot.

These beans require a good rinse! The water looks murky and there is a lot of foam. Keep rinsing until water is clear. I do the quick soak method and rinse well again after soaking.I didn't try the recipe as instructed on the back because I took one wiff of the seasoning packet and found it to smell disgusting. I still purchase from time to time because I do like the variety of beans and lentils, and use my own recipe which includes peppers, onions, an 8 oz can of tomato sauce, and chicken andouille sausage. I don't get ripped off as badly because I buy it at my local grocery store for $3.49 a package!
