I even posted my new post in a Facebook post!
Nicely packed, received in excellent condition. Assembly was straightforward every thing fit together precisely. There is tons of extra post if you decide to sink it in concrete. I used my old 4 x 4 post and slipped it over, fit snugly. I modified my old mailbox by drilling holes to match bracket, used supplied hardware uptrough bracket and covered nuts with supplied plastic caps. If you have a Gilbratar mailbox the hardware will go in from the top, their mailbox has square holes to receive the carriage bolts. These leaves nothing sticking up off floor of mailblx, but my way worked, nuts don't sit that high inside the box. I did cauld the aluminum post to my concrete base to help precerve the wooden 4 x 4 post and added two screws through the side of the aluminum post to secure it. Paranoid...don't know but someone could just lift the whole thing off the post and abscond with my post and mailbox assembly, a dastardly deed which I wouldn't put past some people. I applied a little caulk around the staineless screws I used to prevent water intrusion, just seal the heads to the post. Wish I would have bought this years ago. Continually dealing with wooden cross arms that get loose even when they are screwed, glued and all joints caulked, I'd get rot. Think it will out live me. Just have to take mailbox off some day and repaint to look as nice as post. I did make to aluminum placards for the side of the mailbox which I affixed reflective address numbers and used two pop rivets to hold the placards on.

quality thru and thru. A 4x4 fits perfectly inside up to the mounting nuts inside.
This box and the post are precision made of high quality materials. Ain't plastic or steel that disintegrate. it costs twice as much because it is twice as strong, twice as sturdy, twice the quality, twice the value, twice as noticeably beautiful. Made from solid extruded aluminum with a somewhat glossy finish (different from the picture I think). Door works perfectly and cleanly. even the red flay is cast aluminum and shows quality. Even my Postman commented on it positively. I used a 4x4 PTGC inside and cemented this sucker into the ground surrounded by a rock bed also cemented into place. if a car hit this, the car would be totaled.

Sleek, Modern Design Post
I purchased a large, locking mailbox at a local big-box hardware store. The post options at the store were either too ornate for my taste or looked like they would be dwarfed by the mailbox size. I wanted something simple and modern that would showcase the mailbox. I found this post, and it is perfect! The black color is a good match to the mailbox. The post is sturdy and looks sleek. My husband installed this using a post hole digger that he had rented to dig fence post holes. It is secured in place with crushed limestone. The only CON is that the holes in the mounting plate did not match the pre-drilled holes in mailbox. My husband could align 2 of the holes, but he had to drill extra holes in the mailbox to match the mounting plate. He said that this was not hard, but you do need a drill bit that can drill through metal. Be sure to consider this if you have purchased a non-Salsbury mailbox.

Looks very well manufactured and sturdy
This post is a wonderfully manufactured, sturdy post and it seems to be of great quality - and, coming from a person who is used to German quality, this truly means something! I wish we would have had the possibility to fully assemble it today, but only AFTER putting the post into the ground did we realize that no hardware was included for the 'arm' that attaches to the post (of which the other side attaches to the mailbox)! The post was somewhat larger (in height) than our former post, but that's a plus, in my mind. We just had to make the hole that our former mailbox-post left at little deeper. All in all, I believe we received amazing quality for the price we paid. The only negative: I called Amazon and it's not possible for them to simply replace (re-send) only the hardware; they have to replace the entire thing. However, the customer service representative was helpful in giving me the phone number for Salsbury, so that I can request the hardware to be sent out directly by them. Unfortunately, the manufacturer couldn't be reached since it's a Saturday. Just in case any other person here has the same problem, this is Salsbury's phone number: 1-800-624-5269. They're open Monday through Friday from 6 AM - 5 PM PST (they're located in LA).

Very sturdy mailbox post
Yesterday, I ordered the Salisbury Industries 4628 mailbox post in the black Victorian Style. It arrived this morning, but Amazon shipped the “Modern” style. Initially, I was disappointed because I didn’t get what I ordered, but it is so well made that I think I will install it rather than return it. The post is made of very heavy gauge aluminum as is the support arm. I think you could take a sledgehammer to it and not even dent it. Before ordering this post, I read many reviews for other products. Most others were made of thin plastic and many people commented that they were very cheaply made and didn’t hold up. That’s clearly not the case with this pole.I was surprised to read in the setup instructions that you are supposed to concrete it into the ground. When I read the specifications before ordering it, I thought it was intended to be placed over a 4x4. My plan at this point is to do both. I’m going to dig down two feet around my existing 4x4 post, place the new post over the 4x4 post, and then pour in some QUIKRETE.I will add more information to this review once the mailbox comes tomorrow and after I’ve completed setting it up.

Built To Last
Was able to purchase this through HomeDepot after 3 failed attempts by Amazon. USPS said the package could not be delivered due to additional postage needed. I ended up cancelling through amazon but wanted to leave a review of the post. This thing is awesome. Solid build and looks great. Lots of choices out there for mailboxes and posts. I highly recommend this post with the Salsbury mailbox. You might end up paying a little more but it's going to look great and last a heck of a lot longer than the other options you will find at the bigbox stores.

Quality hardware
I was very impressed with the post and the included hardware. I chose a mailbox from a different company, so I had to modify the mailbox holes to make them fit the mount on this post, but I knew that was a possibility when I ordered it.
