Super soft
This plush is pretty large. Seems to be made with short pile minky fabric, large saftey eyes, stuffing and crinkle cellophane in the tail. Fairly well made! Very huggable!

So good we bought two
My daughter kept talking about electric eels during a vacation trip to the beach, and I decided to look for a stuffed animal eel. Who knew they even existed! They are very well made and the crinkling plastic has not been an issue. She loves trying to "zap" her grandparents and uncles with the eel. Very cute and fun. She had a slight scare where we thought a dog got a hold of it and ruined it , so we quickly bought another. Luckily the original eel was fine and now she has two eels. She sleeps with both every night.

Huge and huggable!
Plush is incredibly anatomically accurate and is soft and huggable with lots of extra details, there is some crinkly plastic like the kind that comes in cat toys inside, but only in the very tip of the tail. Most of this plush is soft and very cuddly, And I think the crinkly sound effect is a nice touch and adds an extra level of detail. This plush is also gigantic, at 3 ft long. Overall, this size, design, and quality of plush is something I would expect to find in the gift shop of a higher end aquarium! Great buy, love it.

Sounds just like the live one at the New England Aquarium!
While it’s tough to admit, real Electric Eels are not quite as cute as this stuffed animal version. It’s irresistible to anyone who likes some of the under-appreciated animals out there (myself and our daughter included). She actually received this almost 5 birthdays ago, and I’m only NOW leaving a review because of how often people have complained about his sound effects in their write-ups. Not only do I find the crinkle to be a clever inclusion, but that is almost precisely what you hear standing at the Electric Eel exhibition tank in the New England Aquarium. Also: it’s not a LOUD toy. Maybe it’ll keep some toddlers up (?), but our then-6-year-old brought it to bed with her and there was never an issue. All these years later it has held up beautifully, still cunningly crinkles, and still delights. Not too shabby for a modestly-priced plush!

Who would have thought a stuffed eel would be so much fun?
My 3yo son loves it. Mr. Eel, as he has come to be known, is now one of his favorite stuffed animals since we got him for Christmas. It does seem people are getting two different kinds. In ours, only the very tip of the tail crinkles, and not very loudly. Others seem to be getting a model that crinkles the entire length.
