The shades come with two clips to hold it in place if it's too long, so sometimes trimming the length isn't necessary due to the pleats folding up nicely. Q: how do you raise and lower the cordless shade Redi Shade 3405092 White Fabric Window Shade, 36-by-72-Inch

To lower and raise the shade you have to do so manually with your hands. There are 2 clips that come with each shade so you can clip the shade up to your desired length or just let the shade hang on its own with no clips, which is what I usually do and they rest on the window sill or I clip the shades from the back side so I don't see the clips when I put the shades up.
