Lightspeed Outdoors 2 Person PVC-Free Air Bed Mattress for Camping and Travel

Summary of my findings after 6 months of nightly use:*Very comfortable & supportive*Durable*Lightweight*No odor or out-gassing (TPU material does not release VOC's, unlike vinyl air mattresses.)I have slept comfortably on this air mattress every night for 6 months in my home. This came about because the out-gassing of synthetic foams and materials that are used in most traditional mattresses caused my skin to break out in a rash. I've found an air mattress to be the best, most cost-effective sleeping solution for me right now. I wanted a non-toxic air mattress as an alternative to the vinyl ones which release pthalates into the air. The Lightspeed air mattress is made with TPU, so there is no out-gassing. Unlike PVC air mattresses, this one had absolutely no odor upon removal from the packaging. I was able to sleep on it immediately the very first night without having to air it out (as I have had to do with previous vinyl air mattresses.)I find this mattress to be very comfortable. My back, hips, and neck feel firmly supported (In fact, it is actually so comfortable that I don't miss my traditional mattress!)This mattress has had NO air leakage in 6 months of use! It is very lightweight compared to a vinyl mattress. Upon deflation, it easily fits back into the fabric bag it comes in. Full size sheets fit this mattress well. I purchased this bed frame on Amazon for my Lightspeed air mattress:PragmaBed Simple Base Bi-fold Foundation, FullI placed a thin pad between the metal frame and my mattress to prevent any punctures from sharp corners or edges.I purchased a second one of these air mattresses for an extra guest bed. It has been inflated for 4 months and also has not needed to have any air added to it. Guests have reported sleeping very comfortably.IF YOU BUY, here is a tip for inflating it:The TPU material of this air mattress is not stretchy in comparison to vinyl air-mattresses. This "taut" quality makes it more durable and supportive. Therefore, when inflating the mattress, I recommend that you do not inflate it to complete full capacity (to where it seems tight like a drum.) If you stop inflating the mattress while it is still appears to have some "squish," the mattress will firm up under the weight of your body when you lay down. Once you recline on it, the air will move around and equalize inside the mattress, supporting the contours of your spine.UPDATE on February 2022: Even with nightly indoor use, this mattress is still holding air perfectly and sleeps very comfortably! I have it on a metal bed frame that has very closely placed slats and a blanket between the bed frame and the mattress, to protect the mattress from anything on the frame that might puncture it. The only times I have had to add a little air is when the air temperature in my bedroom drops 5-10 degrees in the winter. At that time, the air molecules inside the mattress condense, so it seems a little softer. (Just like I have to add some air to my car's tires in the winter.) I just add a little bit of air to the mattress in November, and then I let a little bit of air out of the mattress when the room temperature goes back up in the spring. This is an exceptionally durable product, in my opinion!

UPDATE AGAIN: Although it took longer to re-re-rate this product than I had planned, I wanted to hold true to my word. This product works EXACTLY as advertised, and we have just purchased a second one of these mattresses today! The company was fantastic to work with! If you read this review in full you will see that we seemed to have purchased a defective mattress the first time. We wrote a review, and the company jumped into action to address our concern. The replacement mattress has performed perfectly on several camping trips over several years now, and we are now purchasing another one for some of our kids. A bonus is that the original mattress that was defective has continued to be used but not as a mattress. It it stored in the trunk of my husband's car and used as a drop cloth for the trunk or back seat when getting garden or home improvement supplies.I am leaving the text from my prior two reviews below so you can read from the bottom up. It really shows you the history and how this product and company really is great. What started as a negative, disappointing experience with a purchase has turned into one of our most highly recommended camping purchases when speaking with friends. Within a day of writing the original 2 star review (see below), the company contacted me via email to inquire as to the problem and to see what they could do. After a few emails describing what happened, they requested our Amazon receipt. Once I sent them that they emailed back letting me know that a new air mattress was in the mail and on the way to our house. It arrived quickly thereafter. I am thoroughly impressed with this level of customer service. The people I interacted with seemed to genuinely care about me as a customer and the quality of their product (such a rarity these days unfortunately).We are about two weeks away from using the new air mattress for our annual summer camping time. I plan to update this review again after the fall when we use the air mattress a few times. My hope is to raise the star rating even higher.Below is my original review which I gave 2 stars:Great out of the box but poor performance long termOur family enjoys camping, and we have searched for many years for a solution to going to sleep on a full air mattress and waking up in the morning on the ground. We used cheaper air mattresses for years and gave up and tried cots. The cots were still not comfy. So when we found this product, we were excited. We tried it out last summer in July. The mattress stayed firm the whole week we were on vacation, and if I had reviewed this product then, I would have given it 5 stars. It performed exactly as advertised. We stored it safely for August and September and then used it again in October for a weekend. We woke up both mornings on the ground and were disappointed. There are no noticeable holes or leaks. We also used it once in the house for a little camp-out night with the kids in the playroom ... again, woke up on the floor. I so wish this mattress performed now like it did that first week. Sadly, we will be searching again.
