Highly highly recommend!!!!!

Absolutely love this book. Daughter brought it home from school library and I loved how easy it was for her to read, understand and even share with everyone. Found it online and purchased it so when we had to return her library book, we still had one at home for ourselves! Great colors, pictures and I love how it incorporates the kids as part of the story (playing the characters as you read along). Absolutely 100% highly recommend this book!!!!

Thanks for This Book!

We enjoyed this book. The pics are warm and simple, yet have the perfect amount of interesting details that have kids taking a second look before turning to the next page. Great as an easy reader for second graders- large print. The word "Massachusetts" was tough for my daughter, but most words are easy to tackle. I like the fact that kids of different cultures are presented. The plot involves school kids presenting a Thanksgiving play...each actor states what he or she is thankful for and a Thanksgiving fact. The two-page spreads depicting the play have the kid dressed in costume with said info, and the opposite page has a pic of the historic character he or she is portraying. The word "God" is not involved with this book (re: Gail Gibbons' book of the same title). Just letting y'all know that in case you want it or not. Sweet book to read after pigging out on sweet potato casserole.

Horrible condition

book was in terrible condition. The inside pages are loose and not bound to the hardcover. They are just stuck in. It is laughable to say it is of gift quality. Library card pocket on inside. Large sticky label on first page. Library shelf label on spine.

Correct Reference to the Wampanoag People, Not Indians

This book makes the correct reference to Pilgrims and the Wampanoag people, not Pilgrims and Indians. It is always preferred to use the name of a tribe, instead of the catch-all "Native American" or "Indian." So I was thrilled to see there was a Thanksgiving book where I didn't have to use white out and write over "Indian"!

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day, by Anne Rockwell, conveys the story of Thanksgiving through colorful pictures and historical facts. The story itself is being told by Charlie, a student in Mrs. Madoff's class. Charlie and his classmates have put on a Thanksgiving Day play. The play has helped the students learn about the events and the people from that "first" Thanksgiving. I really like this book. Any reader would enjoy the brightly illustrated pictures and the lessons being taught. Halloween Day is another good example of Anne Rockwell and Lizzy Rockwell's ability to portray historical facts through an enjoyable story with the use of vivid illustrations.
