Over in the Forest: A woodland animal nature book (Our World, Our Home)

My daughter (4.5) and I LOVE this book! Over in the Meadow and Bedtime in the Jungle have long been staples in our house, and this book is a perfect addition. We also love finding the hidden animals, studying the animal footprints and learning the different baby animal names!

These are fabulous books! We've read this for years, since our daughter was an infant. Love the tune, the rhyming and the animals!

Every teacher needs this book. It's not just for young grades who are learning to count, but for older grades who are learning about organisms, habitats, and the animal kingdom!! It is so chalk full of information! The opportunities to use it in the classroom abound! The illustrations are amazing! The song is wonderful, and easy for children to learn, not to mention that it is a melody that many children already know. The best buy!

I’ve bought several of the “Over in the....” books and a joy reading them all to my grandchildren.

We loved the sea one and the artwork in it. This book is by a different artist, which was a tad disappointing, but overall it met our needs. I liked this combination of a counting book, learning about North American forest animals book, and finding hidden animals book. The hidden animals essentially double the number of animals included in the book to twenty. My main complaints are that the hidden animals can be overly difficult than is necessary and the overall artwork appears more an experiment in learning a new technique than mastery - in fact all the other books I have in the series are better art-wise. Overall its a good book with lots of facts about animals in the back and I bought it to complete our series, but its just not as good as the others.

Not only is the story wonderful, but the book includes extras like facts about each animal mentioned in the book, activities, and much more.

A beautiful book which can be read or sung. Fun hidden animal in each picture which encourages scrutinizing each page. Information at back from e further learning.

Purchased this book in September 2016 to review and decide if it would make a good Storywalk. After deciding that yes it does make a great book for an outdoor storywalk I went to order two more copies, only to find it is no longer available in the paperback format. Very disappointed.

I used this for a “walk and read” in a park. Perfect for.
