Great book! The author has a way with words
Great book! The author has a way with words. It's thought provoking throughout, humorous at times, and always focused upon the glory of God. Definitely a good addition to your personal library.

Interesting and thought-provoking from the very first sentence to the last
This is a unique book written for people like me: people who love good writing but have short attention spans. This eclectic collection of essays served up a healthy portion of emotional stirring, intellectual entertainment, and spiritual provocation. My first impression after just a few chapters: "This will be FAST reading, because the well-crafted words make this book a pleasure to read!"My second impression after a few more chapters: "This is turning into very SLOW reading -- not because I am bored nor because the wording is too difficult -- but I find myself re-reading entire paragraphs because sometimes truth is being said so well I must replay it."I love how the author succeeded in bundling such a random assortment of topics into one book. This kind of writing demonstrates that no topic is necessarily unrelated or unimportant by definition. Importance emerges within each chapter, because the writer treats each topic seriously and finds a way to hammer home a genuine point with each pontification. This is not to say the entire tone of the book is serious -- in almost every serious essay you will find refreshing pockets of fun. Humor is used only for its most effective purposes: proving points and illustrating fallacies.I am glad I did not find even one sentence of rambling in this book. The phrasing is well thought out and fits together in beautiful argumentation and poetry.I gave this book a bit more time than I thought I would, and that is because this book was interesting and thought-provoking from the very first sentence to the last.

Beautiful in Every Way
It's difficult to know how to choose the right words to review Meeks' writing, because it's difficult to capture the essence of what makes it so special. He has an incredible command of language that makes his pose poetic -- without ever being "fluffy." To rephrase what another reviewer has already said, the essays here are a delight to read and are smooth and simple to follow -- yet you'll find yourself wanting to read and re-read them. Their simplicity is deceptive, displaying a depth you might not notice at first glance.Absolutely worth the read.

The author's use of words will captivate your mind and paint a great picture for your soul
I've ready many different chapters, since this book does not have to be read in order. The author's use of words will captivate your mind and paint a great picture for your soul. This thought provoking book will inform the reader while also warming His passion for God. Now I need to read Sproul's book Holiness of God.
