Finally the fountain pen I’ve been looking for
I’ve bought several fountain pen over years and been disappointed that they all write like sharpies despite saying extra fine writing. Now that struggle is over I have finally found it! It writes small and smooth like it should be a true extra fine even better I’d say. Everything is well made works and functions flawlessly too no problems using it. If you’re wanting super small fine writing and good quality pen that works great Sailor pens is for you. It is for me.

Fantastic extra fine pen
This is a fantastic fountain pen. Build quality is superb, with extremely high attention to detail. I love the ergonomics, including the size, shape, weight, and balance, especially posted. The ink delivery system includes Sailor's dependable cartridge/converter and one of the best plastic feeders on the market. The 14k gold nib is second to none, with a true Japanese extra fine tip and an excellent writing surface geometry. Overall, the nib performs extremely well, with silky smooth ink flow, and an effortless, pleasant, and reliable writing experience. However, this is more of a precision tool, rather than a general-purpose pen. The extra fine nib will feel toothy, particularly to people who have never used a Japanese extra fine nib before. However, once you get used to it, you're going to appreciate its unrivaled writing performance, at least in this price category (under $200). Moreover, it's a really beautiful pen. Having said that, I would not recommend this pen as a gift, especially for first-time fountain pen users. Instead, buy the model with the medium-fine nib (MF), as it will be more suitable for beginners. Shipping from Amazon Japan was super quick, with detailed tracking along the way.Highly recommended!

good value
The color of this pen is sort of blah. Other than that it is the same as all of mySailor pens. I was just hoping for a better blue color.

Worth it for me
The pen worked out of the box but was a little scratchy. Some of that was the extra fine nib, which has a smaller sweet spot and scratches off paper fibers if pressed too hard. After some gentle tuning and flossing, I ended up giving it a couple passes on with micromesh and mylar. Since then it’s been super smooth with that feedback that Sailor and extra fine nibs are known for.I suspect these sorts of adjustments and maintenance are part of what would be included if I paid the extra money to get it from an authorized dealer in the US.Using abrasives and other techniques is a bit of a gamble, especially when attempting it for the first time, like I was doing. I enjoyed being hands on with it and getting better acquainted with how the pen works. So if you are okay with buying a pen that may not be perfect right out of the box, this is a great deal on a wonderful pen.(That said, it is ultimately a luxury purchase, and there are steel nib pens that feel great too at under half the cost.)

Favorite EF nib pen
I write very small, and always use a fine to extra-fine nib pen, and this pen is now my favorite. Great fine line, flow is excellent, very smooth writing experience. Beautiful aesthetic in design. Using primarily on Tomoe River paper and a planner and notebook on lovely 100gsm Austrian(?) paper from Paper Republic - writes like a dream.

Extremely happy with this pen, but...
Very disappointed, 2 black cartridges, not 1 cartridge and 1 converter as stated in the description.Pen is beautiful, very unisex sky blue.20% shorter then my Platinum 3776.Looks like plastic, so light weight. I need to post it.Gold EF nib, slight flex, writes fine like my 3776 UEF.Good amount of feedback, and writes slightly smoother then my UEF nib.I write very small in my 4x6 BUJO and these are the only 2 pens that can produce the right line width.Pens I own that just miss the mark are Preppy & Perpenep EF, Kakuno EF and Hongdian EF.The aesthetics alone are enough to purchase. Sailor EF rivals as the thinnest line you can get OOTB. It might be smoother if I change the ink. This Sailor pen is better looking then my Platinum 3776 Century Bold Chartres Blue, hands down!

Afforable Gold Nib Pen
Great gold Nib, escpecially at this price point. Love the look of the pen. This is a true Japanese extra-fine nib, some might not like how thin it writes, and might get some getting used to. Needs its own propriatary converter which is fine. It is on the small size, which is why I use it posted. If you have purchased a Sailor pen before you'll recognize the quality. It is a good pen.

The pen is very high quality and a great writer for an EF nib.
The pen is very well built and writes very well. The description is apparently inaccurate. It states the pen includes a converter (that I generally insist on using). It came with 2 cartridges and no converter. That's very disappointing. So if you buy one, be prepared to pay more later if you want a converter. Others have noted this, but the seller isn't making it right.
