Instant size adjustability!
This 151 and the 152 model cutters both adjust instantly making them much faster to operate than their standard cutters, especially when working with different pipe diameters. It is a bit wider and longer than the standard model but for open areas or bench work, this design is best because it offers instant adjustability and more leverage for cutting larger diameter pipe sizes.

Cuts Through 2 3/8 Inch Diameter Galvanized Steel Pipe that is 1.5 mm thick without a problem
I needed to cut through a galvanized steel pipe used for chain link fencing. The pipe was 23/8 inches in diameter and about 1.5 mm thick as measured by my digital caliper. This cut through this pipe like a champ--no problems. I made sure to not to tighten it too much for each turn around the pipe. If you take it slow, you will not have problems even though this tool does not mention cutting through steel in the description. This is a very sturdy tool--it is a great addition to my tool box.

Worked perfectly for cutting 2-3/8" STEEL pipe, 16 gauge. Highly recommend.
I bought this pipe cutter to cut 2-3/8" Steel pipe used for a chain link fence. I was skeptical at first, but it performed flawlessly cutting 16 gauge steel pipe. I used the default copper cutting wheel that came on the unit. The spring release is a great feature. The wheel tracked very well and when I rotated around the pipe it fell right back into the channel it had started.I believe the key is to not turn the knob in too much at the start. Take your time and don't over tighten the knob. Took about 5 minutes to cut through the steel pipe. Left a nice, clean cut all the way around. There were some burrs on the inside but that's easy to fix.I cut 11 steel pipes and the blade wheel looks brand new still. No dings or nicks in the blade at all. I'm confident this will give me years of good use.

Great tool! MUCH better than no name brand pipe cutters. Very clean cut and the quick lever feature is great.

Great everyday jobsite tool
This handy guy is perfect for all my copper cutting needs. I will say that it's a bit large of a tool for 3/4 pipe, although it will cut it perfectly. The tool just feels a bit large in the hands for such a small pipe. I believe some thumb cutters are in my near future as well because of some, "in position" cutting that makes life a bit difficult with these larger cutters. But overall, they dob work exactly as described on copper and pvc. Even has an extra cutting wheel in the handle. The spring loaded handle is extra handy as well. Any chance possible to make that little spring a little harder to not get snagged and pop off? That was a 30 min fishing a small spring through a small hole adventure. That honestly I didn't have to fix for the function of the cutters just more of a quality of life kinda thing. Anyhow, great product by a great company. Go Ridgid!

great tool, but slightly peeved
5 stars means "I Love It", 4 stars means "I Like It", and 3 stars means "It's OK"Well as high of quality as I think this tool is, It's definitely not a 3 or lower. I really wanted to give it 5 stars but I can't. For the past 1.5 years I've been using a ~$20 tube cutter from Menards and it finally snapped in half. I always believed that "You buy cheap, you buy twice" so this time I dropped the dime on this clearly and obviously superior tool. But I can't give it/them 5 stars because after literally 32 days of ownership (who has a 32 day return window??) the cutting wheel got a nice chip in it. I'm a reasonable guy so I figure it was a fluke and I will continue using it once I get it fixed.I called RIDGID and got someone from customer service who did help me set it up to be serviced. So I printed off the form and shipped it to RIDGID at my expense. After 10 days I was getting impatient because I have tubes to cut! I called the number for the service center and got a "experiencing high call volume try back again in a few minutes". I think I called back about 5 times over the next hour and nobody would pick up the phone. Well after about the 2 week mark I finally got it back nice and serviced and oiled up. And it really is a good tool (probably). All's well that ends well I suppose... but in every line of work I've ever been in you cannot go 2 weeks without correspondence or even an email acknowledging that they received, fixed, shipped out, etc.If that doesn't matter to you then this is a 5 star tool.
