Amazing!
I bought this for my kids because we love the Science Comic books. When it came in the mail, I sat down and accidentally read it cover to cover! It was that good! I have always loved national parks and I still learned things I didn't know! And I always appreciate when authors can gracefully navigate tough topics - which Koch does over and over in her work. Excellent book to own!

My kids actually read and retained!
Finally a book that my children and nieces will read AND retain the information they have learned. As a parent I really appreciate having the opportunity to watch kids learn and WANT to talk about it because they enjoyed reading!

So much more than i expected!
This history comic is packed with good history and view points beyond what I expected in a comic. The author goes into enough depth to establish the story without losing you in dates, and famous peoples names. It’s really well thought out and a great way of learning the history of our National Parks.I especially like the attention paid to those forgotten indigenous peoples and underrepresented women, without derailing the story line. As the author says “history is filled with imperfect people”Highly recommend!

Informative, fun, humorous
Super informative graphic novel contains tons of fascinating US history that is rarely if ever presented in school, done with humor and great art. The subject of our National Parks is a historical blind spot that this book really helps clarify. And its a fun read!

interesting and informative
This was an informative graphic novel that takes us through the history of national parks, with Bigfoot as the narrator. It starts with the creation of the very first national park, Yellowstone, and leads to the creation of the National Park Service (NPS).I enjoyed this graphic novel but it was a bit chaotic at the same time. The story flowed from one park to another and, at times, could be slightly abrupt and confusing. The art was great but I do think some of the panels were a little chaotic with the amount of things in them. It was hard to focus on what the message of that panel was portraying.I do think this was a great way to teach history to younger kids because they didn’t gloss over some of the terrible things that occurred with the creation of these parks. The story didn’t hide the fact that we removed indigenous people from their lands and killed them. It also discussed the destruction of nature and animals that occurred before regulations were put into place.Overall, this was interesting and informative. I liked that Bigfoot was the narrator and think kids will enjoy this book. Also I appreciate that there is a timeline at the end that shows the establishment dates for national parks.

Deep Insights
What this comic book teaches us is deep. Preserve or Conserve? How much humans are allowed to tinker with Mother Nature. Thought-provoking.
