Purchased for my kids, they work great.
I wanted to take my kids fishing, but those crappy disney rods won't cut it if you want kids to actually fish, so I found these and they worked great for us all summer. One of my kids even caught his first trout on one! He was excited but the reel was easy enough that he was able to reel it in just fine, and the action was perfect for the size of fish. The adjustments such as drag were very easy to use and figure out, and we haven't had any tangles yet. It's really hard to find something high quality for a low cost in 2019, but this is one of those few, remaining products that are great and not too pricey. I highly recommend this one.

Ready to hook a lunker
Did some practice casting in the back yard. I am ready to put it to the test soon. This rod has a nice, smooth release and can fling a lure a long way. It's light and perfect for a quick trip for some bass or crappie fishing on a pond or lake. A nice rod for teaching a young angler some of the basics of casting.

Nice small pole and reel combo.
I bought the 6'6" medium length pole. I have had this reel for several weeks and on the first outing a pin fell from the handle of the crank making the handcrank unable to engage with the shaft of the reel and unable to pull in line. I used a fish hook as a temporary measure and then a paperclip as a final fix. Amazon worked well with me on whether to return of keep this reel (i opted for partial refund.) The only other thing that hasn't worked as well as hoped is the line off the reel. Its very sensitive and when casting i can potentially dump out an extra 2 yards of line off the spool before engaging the reel. this has caused a couple of times where knots have been accidentally placed in the line. For under twenty bucks I have really felt like the pole and the cork and the whole set up are very good for what i'm fishing for. I have been using a sabiki rig and catching perch and shad. To date I've been able to lift out of the water simultaneously 3 hooked fish at about a pound and a half each. The line has been really good, i snagged a tree and it broke with probably 35-40 pounds of sustained tension. I can feel bites and the bottom of the river quite easily and there is plenty of play with the end of the pole when fish are fighting. The drag setting on the reel is inherently easy and fast to use also. Overall i would buy this again in a heart beat but i can't give it a fifth star with the two problems i've encountered.

would not buy again
this fishing rod is not worth $5.00, The first one I recieved I had to send back it came in a huge box and was missing the 2nd half of the pole. The 2nd pole I received was all there but the fishing string unravels and doesn't stop unraveling. I have been fishing for 60 years and trust me it doesn't work . And unfortunitly I didn't try it for about 2 months so I could not return it.

Fantastic for price
I can bomb casts with it. Easy to use on the river and compares on cast distance with some high dollar bait casters. Solid purchase

Mixed feelings
Cast great; after tightening the spool and getting the line completely free of twists (I used the water method). The string would loop under the spool and get in the gear every cast.Absolutely great feel, a bluegill couldn’t blink without me knowing.Flexibility was great, and then I sat it down to help my daughter with a snag. I came back to the top 2 eyelets worth of rod snapped off. It sure isn’t ugly stik tough. I’ve never seen a rod break from being laid down on flat ground. It was good for 1 day creek fishing

Not just for beginners
I bought this to replace another lightweight rod I broke ! This is superb for small lakes ans streams ! Great for trout in the high country ! Cast an amazing distance. Great addition to my 7 other poles !

Rod broke in half, line gets tangled up in itself
Whenever you open the bail, the line just tangled up in itself every cast so you’ll be untangling it more than fishing. After about 11 casts, when barely any pressure was being used to pull the rod up, it broke in half.
