Amazing guide. If there were six stars, I would rate it for sure!!!Helps in better understanding the client and how to best serve his/hers design needs. Clarifies the procedures and the things-to-do. Provides a better environment both for the client and the designer. Helps the designer in providing better services to the clients, in organizing the firm and in avoiding any misconceptions and misunderstandings with the client.Each part is accompanied by examples and the way firms work. Through examples difficulties are presented and solutions are given.Would recommend it to every designer!

I am an independent interior designer that is just starting out with a small client base, this book plus Starting Your Career as an Interior Designer and Profesional Practice for Interior Designers are the Bibles of every young designer starting out. I couldn't thank enough to the authors for sharing their advice and providing an incredible detailed guide. Truly helpful and invaluable!

I have read quite a few interior design business books to date, and honestly this one falls short. It was written about 10 years ago, thus certain aspects of the business (like social media marketing, the heavy transition to flat fees, etc) aren’t covered well at all. But, even besides that, I felt the structure of the book was unhelpful and the content was mediocre. There are far better interior design business books out there that are clearer, more thorough, and have better information than this one. It’s a pass for me.

I haven't met Mr. Williams but I've enjoyed getting to know him through his writing and vast knowledge of our shared industry. When it comes to business, I read everything I can to arm myself for the new economy. Mr. Williams has seen it all and generously shares his experiences with his readers. Shiree Hanson Segerstrom, designer, columnist and author of the blog Joy of Nesting.

The book is everything I had hoped. I read a bit more every time I get a moment. The information on how to deal with clients will be invaluable as will creating a budget and preparing a presentation.The marketing tips and the letter of agreement will help me considerably (I have learned such a lot and I haven't had time to finish reading yet.

I think this book is helpful for me, because of the different culture , I have to learn about the thoughts of the westerners. It is the book I was looking for.

Love the wealth of information this book has. I would recommend this to anyone wishing to go out on their own, or to a new designer.
