Prime-Line U 10278 Two Piece Adjustable Door Strike, Chrome Plated (Single Pack)

This adjustable strike place solves misalignment problems in both directions, up and down and inside to outside.We had a door that never latched smoothly, and after removing and reinstalling it to install a modern bottom seal and new threshold, I could NOT get it to latch, no matter how I futzed with the hinges. The problem was that with the door properly plumbed in the opening, the latch and bolt were too low by so far, the bolt could barely operate and the latch would not engage at all.This adjustable door strike, being taller than the standard strike plate, solved that problem without the need to fill and relocate the old screw holes Because it's taller than the standard strike plate, I only had to use a chisel to enlarge the bottom of the mortise, then install the new plate in the existing upper screw hole and a new lower screw hole--far easier than having to fill the old screw holes with dowel like in the old days.But that's not all. This strike place is in two parts, An outer "clamp plate" that's open on one side and with slotted holes that permit adjustment in the inside to outside direction and are covered by the outer plate. I just had to chisel a bit from the inside of the mortise and adjust the strike plate to permit perfect, secure latching against the additional pressure of the new weatherstripping..

Installed as pictured, very easy to install with a Phillips. Comes with two sets of screws (not sure what the second is for)

We couldn’t make this work properly. It is adjustable but the way that they stamped the metal makes it so the pieces don’t fit together properly. Cheaply made, you’ll want to keep looking.

I purchased this to replace a brass door strike for my mother's guest bathroom. The door strike that came with her new doorknob did not fit the door frame. This was the only chrome door strike I could find at a somewhat reasonable price. I think it is overpriced, however.

Easy install - has room to move if needed when installing- Solved the problem I needed it for.

This door strike is said to be for steel door systems, but it comes with screws for a steel door and wood screws, so I assume it is also designed for wood door frames, too. If using it on a wood door frame be prepared to do some chiseling to enlarge whole for the latch bolt and the recess for the face plate. Once you get that far you will likely realize that the plate will allow you to move inward to reduce the size of the opening, but don't expect even it to move out more than a 1/16". If you are using it for an interior door it may work, but don't expect it to work with an exterior residental locking door knob. Here's the thing, when you use it to move the strike back it reduces the size of the opening to the point that an exterior set is not going to work properly. Even if the bolt goes in it will likely be swallow and with the curve at the face plate it may not be securely latched, but may suffice for a passage set.It's cheap quality. I would not recommend it.

Works great, strongly made

It is adjustable and may work for some people. It is big compared what you probably have right now (1.1875"w x 2.75"h), so you'll have to chisel out a bigger inset and slightly deeper to accommodate both metal pieces. The picture doesn't quite show that the tongue piece has what the manufacturer calls a "dust cap". So you'll have to increase the size of the latch mortise from round to rectangle ( 0.875"w 1.5"h x0.5"d) . This "dust cap" pocket is huge and will require you to remove a lot of jamb material, right up to the interior edge of your jamb. That was the deal breaker for me because I feel it compromises the latching integrity of my exterior door. I did not end up installing it.

Had to open up the frame side hole to make room for the receiver, but works well.

Work great had to chisel in as was bigger look and fits nice
