Perfect replacement for a rod that eventually wouldn't hold. Price point made it easy to decide to purchase a new one instead of living with one that too often slipped loose.

These are aluminum spring tension rods, and are easy enough to fit into the space you need! The instructions aren't great, but in essence, you pinch the spring between the end of the slotted rod and a screw/washer combo that you tighten with your own screwdriver. Very handy size.Dropping one star because the tension rods are warped very easily-- tightening the screw alone can cause you to warp the outer rod, leading to issues if you need to shorten the rod any further. (So be careful with your screw tension here!) The screw/washer combo is a bit finicky, and can fall into the body of the outer rod if too loose.Only other thought-- I strung curtains on these (no plastic rings, just a fold in the cloth, and the "edge" of the outer tension rod catches the curtain.

This is the type I need to hang my kitchen valence. I couldn't find this type anywhere near me. As usual, Amazon had what I needed. These are very sturdy and stay put.

I don't understand the reviews that say these rods are flimsy. If you're using them for light to medium weight curtains these are more than adequate, and the design with the adjustable spring is fine, if you're even a tiny bit handy. Adjust them so the rod is about 1/2" longer than the opening you want to use the rod on, and then compress the spring 1/2" and you're golden. Now if you're going to try to hang heavy large curtains with these, these rods are not meant for that.

I'm sure if you were using this rod for very lightweight curtains it would work okay or maybe a shower curtain without a liner. But for longer windows it's way too flimsy. I've had many problems with tension rods over the years and thought the screw would give the additional support. Unfortunately, it was extremely hard to hold the rod tight and screw it at the same time. Even after I managed to hold it and screw it, it still fell down. I'm sure it somewhat had to do with the bumpy window framing and even user error a bit but the instructions included were just four little tiny pictures and the rod was bending substantially with somewhat lightweight curtain panels on it. Maybe if the rod had a larger diameter it would work. And even then you'd need two people to install it.

This fell apart in 2 weeks, fell to the floor and the spring broke. You get the tension from tightening a screw, not turning the rod. The ends were not round but oval, which seemed not to really hold tight to the wall. I wanted to return it but it's used at my dads and I cannot get it to return within the window, but I would if I could.

Bought this to hang a curtain in a doorway as a privacy divider that can be put up and taken down when we have overnight guests. Works perfectly, easy to install, small for storing, simple and looks nice, not bulky.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Perfect length for a small area to hang the curtain. However, it was tricky to make it stable at first. (I think it will be so much easier if someone else is helping you!) But I made it!If you are looking to hang a heavy curtain, I guess this isn't right for you.

This is a great quality curtain rod ... I have bought similar rods at retail stores and they were less expensive but you get what you pay for. This rod is far superior to what I purchased in stores ... very happy with this purchase and would not hesitate to buy more.
