Dragonart: How to Draw Fantastic Dragons and Fantasy Creatures

I bought this book not to draw dragons, but for inspiration in sculpting them. As for its instruction for drawing, it's top notch. So easy to understand and follow each step from the first line to finished scetch. There's ample discussion on detailing as well. The basic structures for drawing work for sculpting as well, even though one is for 2D art, and the other is a 3D manifestation. Beginning with an underneath structure and building upon that layer by layer is well demonstrated for each project. The artwork is fantastic, too. It's well written and well laid out.

I loved the illustrations and how this book described how to draw dragons, i had this book for years before it was lost unexpectedly, for a time i didn't bother replacing it, but suddenly a few years ago i decided i wanted the book back. The book came in great condition and now that I've had the book for a few years its still in great condition and looks the same as when i bought it. No folds or tears when i received the game. Great buy.PS I'm not a bot....... :D

Well, this is one little book you'll really like if you wish to learn the basics of Dragon Drawing. It's full of details and lessons that will get you drawing a dragon with relative ease, and, if you practice enough, developing a knack for it.I must say, however, this is mostly a practical "I show, you copy" kind of book, which is not wrong at all. The thing is you can only get so far by merely reading it. The tools that the author provides are enough to draw your own dragons, yes, but you gotta try them at your own pace and in your own terms to truly master them. It takes a while, unless you already know your pencil-handling, but it's really satisfying to get it right.Anyway, there's a lot to be learned from this book: different shapes become different kinds of dragons, anatomy for an imaginary creature, different details you can add to your magnificent Wyrm, and enough examples to show how these principles merge into amazing art. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is taking the first steps into fantasy art.And, if you combine it with other books by Peffer -the new one on dragons or the one about other fantasy creatures- you will surely get the most of them. Believe me, I have done it.

As a kid, I looked at many how-to art books, and they just never really helped me with anything; I couldn't follow them, or they were drawing in a way I didn't enjoy. So when I looked at this for my son's gift (thank you previews!), I dug deep into the meat of the book to glean just how useful it would be.I was surprised to see that the tips were both useful and easy to digest, the style/look was perfectly style-neutral, the designs were cool, and the whole thing was presented in an easy to understand way...it even had some cute, funny jokes and silliness on the pages and such that almost felt like a friend was there walking you through the process.My son loved the books (got several in the series at once), and enjoyed doing the practice exercises and designs. I wish I had these when I was learning to draw as a kid...

I purchased this for an 11-year-old who loves to draw and loves dragons. This book is really cool because in addition to all the pictures of dragons, it has sections dedicated to different styles of different parts. For example, there are several pages showing different styles of wings, different styles of legs, different styles of claws, different styles of heads, etc. So you're not just copying the drawings in the book, you're really learning to mix and match to come up with your own creations. There are also tips on blending colors, shading, and highlighting to take your drawings to the next level! If you get tired of dragons, about 1/3 of the book is dedicated to other fantasy creatures.I think I'm going to pair this with a sketchpad and a set of color pencils for a really nice Christmas gift. I know the recipient will be thrilled! I'm actually checking out all the other books from Dragonart. I didn't realize there were so many but I know we'll be getting more because I'm really impressed with this one!================Update: I wasn't wrong. My 11-year old started right off the bat trying to draw the dragon on the cover and was a little frustrated at how silly it looked. So then he dove into the lessons. Here's the interesting thing. On Christmas day, he got this book with a sketch pad and an Android tablet and headphones. The rest of the gifts had to wait a few days till my stepkids came home. Over and over, he asked me if he could listen to music on the tablet while drawing. He wasn't gorging on Minecraft and Terraria and YouTube...he was choosing drawing over all that. A+++ in my book!

This book is well-written and the instructions are easy to follow. It’s great for experienced artists and those just starting out, with illustrations that get progressively more complicated.It’s also beautiful, I love the art style. And the sheer variety of dragons created with the tools inside is just astounding.

This book is good for amateur design but it is but yet again app code for computer design but looks good in my studio libery

Für Zeichen-Neulinge is diese Buch eher weniger geeignet, man sollte zumindest schon etwas Erfahrung darin haben.Ansonsten kann ich dieses Buch nur empfehlen, hat mir bei der Anatomie und den Proportionen sehr geholfen.
