Diamond Select Toys Star Trek: The Original Series Black Handle Phaser

Okay so I actually bought this for a Captain Kirk costume and I love it and play with it all the time (probably too much lol but hey it's fun!). So the phaser is two types it's the type 1 which is a small compact handheld one (similar to the handheld ones in TNG, Voyager, DS9) and a type 2 phaser which is the "ray gun" type). So the type 1 phaser connects into the type 2 and you have both types. I actually bought this phaser not just because I wanted an accurate cosplay that too but I actually bought this because if the event i'm going to only allows costumes but no "replica guns" I can use the type 1 phaser instead. The phaser comes preloaded with a bunch of different sound effects from Stun to disintegrate and it even comes with an overload sound effect!!!! The gun is pretty sturdy and it's great for play or for cosplay and so long as you don't drop it on concrete or tile you should be fine. So now that i've stated all the things I like about it I have to (sadly) talk about the stuff I don't like. However thankfully these are very and I mean very minor issues to the product and they don't even warrant me deducting a star! So the first minor issue is where the phaser itself and the design. You see when you connect the type 1 to the type 2 there is this little "connector" that holds it in place. Well if you push the trigger down too hard it will pop the type 1 phaser out of the type 2 and you'll have to push it back in. The fix to this is not use so much pressure to push down the trigger when you fire the phaser. The trigger doesn't require a lot of force in fact less than a pinky amount of pressure will cause the phaser to fire so it's not really a big deal. Just don't push the trigger down so hard and you'll be fine. The second issue is with the "overload" setting, basically this has the exact same problem as issue one. Whenever you go into overload it will pop the type 1 phaser out of the type 2 forcing you to push it back into place. The reason is the little "connector" is just a tiny piece of plastic that snaps the type 1 into place. This little piece of plastic isn't really strong enough to hold the type 1 in place when you use the overload setting so it constantly pops the phaser out. This is a bit annoying but in truth I keep my phaser either on stun or on kill so I never really use the overload setting at all. It's really a beautiful phaser and more than a cosplay piece to me. The last and final con is the settings. So on occasion when you switch from Stun to Kill you won't hear the setting and so you have to set it again. It could just be weak batteries but it is a bit annoying when I switch from Stun to Kill and then don't hear anything. It does this occasionally but not often enough to warrant a deduction of a star. I love the thing and will continue to play with it even though i'm a grown man lol. Just don't push the trigger down so hard and when you use overload put your thumb on the type 1 so that it doesn't "pop out".

When I opened the packaging and held onto the phaser, all of the old memories came rushing forward! A childhood dream had come true!The unit is remarkably faithful to the original series. In the original series, there were two types of handheld phasers the crew used: a small, personal, palm-sized Type I phaser; and a pistol-gripped, handgun-style Type II. The Type II phaser consisted of a pistol-gripped housing that a Type I phaser would be inserted into, focusing and amplifying the beam from the Type I unit.This unit has both Type I and Type II phasers. The Type I is just like the original series, with a thumb-wheel dial that increases the intensity of the beam (in this case, the sound effect and speed of the flashing LED on the front of the unit). A second switch causes the upper panel of the unit to elevate slightly for better "targetting". The "trigger" is a button on the bottom of the unit (since the actual unit used in the show had no visible firing mechanism).The Type I palm unit snaps into the Type II housing, powering the Type II housing. A trigger button in the pistol grip fires the weapon, causing the sound effects and flashing the acrylic plastic "barrel" in front. A dial allows you to adjust intensity of the beam (once again, sound effects and flashing lights). There is even a switch for setting the unit to "overload" (which appeared in a couple of the original shows). The unit will start with a low humming, building in intensity and pitch, until it generates an explosion sound effect.All in all, I was incredibly impressed with the thought put into the design of the unit. If, like me, you are an old fan of the series, you simply will not be disappointed with this "toy". I know that everyone in my home is getting rather tired of being "stunned" by me whenever a disagreement arises.

Prodotto ben fatto con i due tipi di Phaser che si possono separare con l'unità personale nera che è quella ad avere le batterie e i comandi per regolare il suono emesso mentre quando viene applicata alla pistola vera e propria si ha la possibilità di regolare l'intensità della luce rossa emessa dalla punta del Phaser. Ruotando la manopola posta sulla parte posteriore superiore della pistola si ottiene il suono di sovraccarico del Phaser. quando si usa assemblata si può anche disabilitare la luce, fate attenzione a non premere troppo il pulsante per ffare fuoco perchè potrebbe far alzare la parte nera con conseguente distacco dalla pistola vera e propria su cui si aggancia. Fnziona con 3 batterie a bottone

Being a long-time Star Trek fan, I have always wanted replicas of some of the gadgets on the show. This item is well made. Although it is plastic, it is sturdy and the two phasers fit together securely. The sound effects are loud enough without being too loud. I have only one minor complaint and that is that I wish the red led light was a little more powerful, other than that, I am very happy with this purchase.

２０１６年モデルです。フェイザー１の数字のあるダイヤルで音が４段階変わります。フェイザー２のダイヤルは自爆音に変わるだけです。前のレバーとリングを回すと先端部が赤く光ります。テスト用電池が付いていました。最高レベルのフェーザー音は良いのですが、カーク船長が「フェーザーを麻痺にセット。」の音が無いのが残念です。テーパーラインが気になるので、こだわる方は手を加えると良いでしょう。

I have always wanted one of these and finally decided to buy one. First of all the build, yes, it's plastic but it's fairly robust. The only gripe is that the phaser 1, (the little black unit that clips onto the main unit), is a little loose. There are two sound effects, stun and kill, both are accurate the sound from the show.The price was very expensive for what it is, however - as these, (black handled phasers) are getting as rare unicorn's horns, I bit the bullet and shelled out. It will now have pride of place on display on the shelf.
