Making Murals: A practical handbook for wall painting and mural art to enhance your home

I think this is a good primer on mural paintings. It tells you what you need and gives alternate methods for accomplishing the work. One thing that detracted me a little was this book is evidently written by UK authors using UK based painting supplies. This isn’t a big hurdle but I found myself wishing for an American version of the book.Still I’m enjoying the book and plan to try out the methods and some of the projects.

Cute little book on making both indoor and outdoor murals a lot of florals and geometric designs. Starting from how to prepare and detail painting techniques.

I painted a mural in our dining room on a whim last summer while my children were away at camp. I had never painted a thing in my life and I fell in LOVE. I collected a dozen books on painting murals, mostly featuring some serious stenciling and tuscan trompe-l'oeil, a la 1995. Once I picked up this book I finally felt like I had a real starting point to learn what I was really doing. It's given me the confidence to take a huge plunge and pursue art! And (embarrassingly enough), the authors have felt like my girlfriend-gurus through the whole learning and discernment process. Thank you for creating such a friendly, accessible, helpful guide to welcome new artists into taking a chance!

The advice was long winded and not very practical. Not impressed with their artwork nor their book.

I bought this book when I was researching murals for a client. Having never painted a mural before I read this book cover to cover and would have been lost without it. Full of practical tips it’s given me the confidence to move forward with a surefooted approach….it’s helped short cut a lot of trial and error! The book covers everything from materials you will need to a set of designs to emulate. It’s allowed me to approach things in a much freer and creative way. Painting on a wall at this scale is liberating and highly recommended. And if you’re considering painting your own this book is key!
