Imperial 6" Premium Intake Hood with Built-In Pest Guard Screen, White, PAT-6W

After adding attic insulation, floor insulation (underneath from the basement) and sealing up our house from the elements better we discovered that we now have bad negative air pressure. This is a big no no for a house's breathability - it will cause backdraft from fireplaces, reduce the effectiveness of other exhaust fans and create overall "sick house syndrome" So, I used this, some flexi duct and vented into the return plenum of our HVAC system. This mounded to the side of the house (after drilling a 6" hole that is) easily. The collar is long enough to go right through the wall of a standard wood frame home and allow you to easily attached the ducting inside. Thus far the critter screen has done its job, though an insect screen would have been better. Haven't come to a good solution for that other than some bug spray. Airflow is good, definitely made a difference with out negative pressure issue. House is far more breathable, while still being insulated.

Works for my purpose. Used it thru wall of garage for Portable AC unit intake, 6 inch diameter tube was about 8 inches long so AC hose has enough to connect inside garage wall. Painted outside house color, and appears very nice.

This seems to be constructed well enough for a home, I'll be installing it on an RV so I hope it doesn't blow off on the road. There are no screws included and the tube is aluminum not white plastic like the picture.

Very rarely am I pleasantly surprised by the quality of a reasonably priced building material. This would be the exception.It is extremely well made all the way around. I will be moving towards imperial intakes/exhausts on all my projects in the future.

Good quality and a great price. Seems like it will do the job of providing air intake very well. I did need to trim the pipe as it was about 12" long and my application could only accommodate 3". It was tough to cut which means the metal is strong. I believe this will give many years of great service. Only complaint is I wish it had come with 4 screws to apply it.

Vent fins do not close that are Stationary I wanted it like a dryer vent for an AC exhaust but one of the vents to close keep bugs out does not do that

Very well built ! Simple mounting no worries about rain or rodents to get in . I purchased these to plumb air into a portable ac unit that way I didn't have to have it threw the window best thing ever made it very simple

I thought that this was the answer to my metal outside vents. No so. It seems that this is made of inferior plastics. Installation went easy, but after three weeks, the plastic started to deform from the heat of the sun. I am in Michigan, so not too much sun. Looks like I now have a sloppy installation. I will now have to goop it up with silicone around the edges to prevent water damage.

I needed a 4 inch intake vent for a indoor hydroponic grow space. I will slip insect screen behind the grill to keeo out smaller pests.
