A new favorite! Beautifully illustrated

I love this book! A beautiful tour of Bear Country with larger and more detailed illustrations that remind me of classics like Almanac and the original Christmas Tree!I was surprised that Cousin Tex had as big of a role but loved how they contrasted the Bear Country environment with that of west Texas. This book really stokes the imagination of kids and for me personally was a great throwback to some classic Berenstain Bears books (including a visit to The Spooky Old Tree!!!).One of my favorite new releases from the Berenstain Bears!

A fun book for my grandson

My grandson is 8 and loves to read. He has the Berenstein books and any time a new one is released he wants that book. He will reread them over and over. My children had the Berenstein books when they were young and I like having him read to me now. Occasionally he will share the book with me and have me read one page and him the next. Before the book is done he will take it from me so he can read all the pages to me. I love this series and so does he.

Drastically different than originals not worth it

These books are horrible compared to the originals! I am beyond disappointed to the point I decided to gave them away instead of adding to collection. The beginning is different, the lessons are very bleak and vague, not worth the buy.

Time well spent with grandson

Our 3 year old grandson loves the BERENSTAIN BEARS. This book gives the background of the family in the books.

This is a book my granddaughter asked for. As always, she wasn't disappointed.

Great book

Love this book, my 3 year has been asking me to read it every night for 2 years now. He likes the other books in the series as well.

Cousin Tex - a lovable character who is given an unfair rap!

As a longtime fan of this series this book was especially great to me. I always found it a good time when good old cousin Tex showed up and can't understand why everyone doesn't love him! He has a heart of gold.As this book tours you through bear country the illustrations are breathtaking. Over the past few years the series has stepped it up -- there's pages in this book that take me to that same special place that many of the old school classics used to take me. Not to mention an appearance by the iconic spooky old tree!Don't pay attention to the other reviewers -- this book is an instant classic and a favorite amongst collectors!

Cousin Tex butchered it.... Sorry.

Apparently the Berenstain Bears lived in the 1800's, beacause cousin Tex (who takes up HALF of everypage with thought bubbles of "back home") lived in the Wild West. You see a deserted West where towns are small, the sheriff's dealing with the town trouble makers, bulls and horses, etc. The book didn't highlight Bear Country, but rather compared how NOW was different from THEN. As an adult, I was so excited to get a peak into Bear Country, but I was filled with annoyment with every page (Tex, this is about Bear Country, not you and your silly town!). I'm giving two stars because it's a Bernstein bears book and because my son was partial too it based on the same fact. The pictures really are cluttered and not "free" with the beautiful sky beacause cousin Tex takes up so much of it. I'm really surprised how let down I was. Please, to the writers (and with much love), please get a broad pre-release audience to check before you release. I LOVED the "Under the Sea" book. It was brilliant and informative. You should know though, that all the big kid adults who grew up with the Bernstein bears were really hoping to get a good glimpse into the bear country never written about and only just as amazing or more than that incredible tree house! I'd love this book to be rewritten without Cousin Tex and more buildings actually made in the trees instead of industrialised. It's really ok to have a book that's just a plain tour of bear Country too! You dont have to try so hard to keep the kids interested. Thank you, Mary

Completely mediocre, skip it

Needless to say, we love most of The Berenstain Bears books and I thought this would be so cool. Reading the description made me think we’d get to see the inside of the places in their little county with the characters we know. Instead, there was a random, fairly annoying relative visiting them from “the Wild West” for some reason, being given a tour from the limousine of the Mayor of Bear Country. Why? So uninteresting and the constant comparisons to the town that this cowboy (cowbear?) were weird and kind of dumb! Sorry, but it should be a major pass.
