Great details!
An amazing book to have in any watch book collection. Extremely professionally written with a lot of good quality information. I actually bought two of this books, one for me and another one for my watch friend back in Europe, where he couldn’t find anything this good for 20th century vintage pocket watches. I highly recommend this book.

General overview
Okay general overview but there’s too many watches not included for this to be a good identification and price guide.

A Wonderful Primer and a Great Place to Start
This book assumes the reader has NO BACKGROUND in watches. This puts it head and shoulders above several of the other "Beginner" books out there. Each term is explained, clearly, often with examples. The first part of the book deals with pocket watches. At first I found this annoying but upon reading further I realized it was necessary to have that information to understand fully how wristwatches evolved and how the different features came to be.So why only 4 Stars? On pages 24 and 25 are two wonderful diagrams entitled "Behind The Dial of the Fine Swiss Watch" and "Official Swiss Parts Identification". As one would expect, there is a legend telling you what each carefully labeled part is named. EXCEPT - nothing in either diagram is labeled!! So what's the point?Should this book not have so much excellent information in it that I am finding extremely helpful I would return it. Not because the diagrams are FUBAR but because I wonder what other mistakes have been made.Having said all of that, if you are a watch noobie like myself this is a great investment, I am sure you will get your money's worth.

Too much pocket watchs
Good to browse when your on the can otherwise save your money. The author does not provide any information or background on the watches, just brand, model, year and prices (from 20 years ago so basically irrelevant).

A vital book for anyone interested in vintage timekeepers.
Full of interesting and important information, and hundreds of colour photos for reference, Dean Judy conveys the knowledge he has gathered through years of collecting and selling watches in a way that anyone can follow. Only thing I would say is that the prices should be taken with a pinch of salt as the watch collecting world is constantly adapting and changing, but this doesn’t detract from an otherwise important book. Would highly recommend.

Old fashioned, not updated price guide. Not Useful.
This book, even the second edition (2017), looks from the 70's with poor picture quality and very old style layout. The price guide are stuck in the 80's probabily, not updated at all( Some Rolex datejust for $ 2000??submariner and GMT for $5000? really?). All in all is not really an interesting and useful book. Pleanty of other good books out there.
