Jelly Roll Quilts in a Weekend: 15 Quick and Easy Quilt Patterns

Great book for quick one weekend quilts
I don't know about you (who does, right?) but sometimes I just have the urge (and the emotional need) to sit down and sew something from start to finish without getting bogged down with planning elaborate piecing, applique or borders. When that time arises, this book will come in handy because nearly all the quilts are designed to be completed (the top, that is) in one weekend. With a little extra time for the quilting and binding ... you're done! The book includes 15 quilts that are presented in the order of how much time they take to make and they are all designed to take just one 40-strip 2.5 inch precut fabric collection but of course you can use your own strips, fat quarters or just use scraps. You will also need some background, binding, and backing fabric. Several of the quilts utilize left over strip scraps for the binding.Three quilts (Boardwalk, Skyline, and Picnic Time) have a very modern esthetic (Skyline looks like a Coins quilt), a few quilts have a controlled scrappy feel (Norwegian Wood, Beach Life, and Tutti-Fruitti). The cover quilt, Sprockets, and the Circle of Friends quilt take the longest to make and are the last quilts in the book. Circle of Friends includes friendship stars arranged in circles. There is also a wall hanging (Honeycomb 55" x 65") that results in large strip-pieced hexagons. There are a few of more traditional quilts as well. Quilts range in size from about 50 inches to lap-sized quilts.Overall, I like the book for its simple designs and straight-forward piecing techniques. The book would be excellent for a beginning quilter or anyone who needs a quick quilt to give as a gift (some of the designs would appeal to a student or grad) or someone who wants to make charity quilts or even for someone who has been thinking about making their first modern-looking quilt.

Clear instructions, great patterns
This book has some great patterns, and all of them are straightforward enough that this beginner quilter can make them. There's a good variety of patterns and styles. Each step is broken down into easy to understand language, with tips interspersed, and lots of step by step visual guides. It's important to note that you'll only complete the quilt top in a weekend: adding the batting, backing, and doing the quiltit will add at least a day.

Creative weekends to come!
These are beautiful, creative designs that come together quickly. I was able to use many of my stash strips. And hexies from strips? Wow! I am happy to find quilts that I can actually bear to part with as gifts because they don't take months to finish!

Good for newbies to the jelly roll world.
I have been quilting since 1979 and I am from the old school of templates so LOTS have changed!! I am new to the world of jelly rolls and this is a easy recipe book to follow. Lots of wonderful pictures and step by step detailed instructions. No pattern seems overly difficult but it may take me longer than a weekend to piece a top!! I liked this book so much I bought their next book too.

I really appreciate the quality of the patterns by the Lintotts. They are accurate and offer a variety of unusual jelly roll designs. Most of the patterns on this book use only half of a jelly roll, so the jelly roll patterns give you a lot of band for your buck.

Another one full of great ideas.
Like all of Pam and Nicky's books, this one is great too. Lots of super ideas and patterns. You'd need to sew pretty well non stop for the week end to complete a quilt but they would be relatively quick to make.
